Walter showed up on time, got the job done quickly and correctly, and didn't leave a mess behind like some plumbers I've dealt with in the past. Not only would I recommend him for a future job, I've already taken my own advice -- he's also a general contractor, and I'm already using him for an exterior house repair this weekend.
Keith provided outstanding service! I didn't buy the correct switch for the repair. Not only did he go with me to Lowes to get the correct parts but taught me through the process of installation. All while beating the hourly rates and total costs of competitors. Professional and I felt comfortable having him in my home. Will hire again!
Months ago, I looked for someone to do a small painting project on Thumbtack. And I ended up with a brand new home. Christian, Jessica, Hector and the rest of the team at 5th Gen Group honestly do miracles. We own a 100+ year old row home in Washington DC and we've had problems ever since we moved in five years ago. After dealing with four different contractors that left me unsatisfied, I tried Thumbtack (at that time, new in the DC area). Christian came out to do an estimate and I was impressed by him from the get go - as a woman, I hate when contractors act like I'm stupid or uninformed. Christian never did that, and he answered all my questions respectfully and thoroughly and would defer to my wishes. We initially contracted for a gut remodel of our ancient kitchen and leaking bathroom. Christian's professional opinion was heavily appreciated as well as his vision - he instantly "got" the feel of a space and spent a lot of time listening to not only what we wanted, but how we would use the space and what we planned for the house in the future. Of course, the best laid plans always go awry - we knew our house had a few "handyman specials" but once Christian opened up the floor in the kitchen, we realized we were really in for it. Down there was a hidden mess of rotting wires, missing piping, garbage from the last renovations, and rotted-out beams. Overnight, our budget doubled. I personally wanted to die. But Christian calmly lead us through the process, helped us try to salvage our murdered budget, and focused on explaining the trade-off in home values. We ended up with an additional half bath downstairs (because really, what was another 5K at that point?), brand new kitchen (with a small bar!) a brand new stairwell and relocated laundry room, and a brand new bathroom with a shower (after 5 years of an ancient leaking cast iron tub). Christian isn't completely perfect - he's totally a perfectionist, and if you are one too, be prepared for some long conversations. There is an epic texting exchange over the bathroom tile that I may print out just to see how long it really was. But that's about the only thing. Also, for the other ladies on here- I always hate opening my home to someone because I have had bad experiences with contractors who were, at best, creepy. Christian and Hector were completely professional, and they really went the extra mile to make sure I always knew who would be in the house, when they would arrive, and how to reach both of them. Christian also has a lot of loyalty and integrity toward his clients - he is always fair, both in pricing and in the treatment of your home. He broke a small appliance - the only reason I knew was because he called me when he was purchasing an (upgraded) replacement on his own dime. All renovations are hard projects, long projects, and frequently frustrating. There was definitely a day when I wanted to kill Christian for sending me out to two different quarries in far out Virginia right around rush around. But when I stepped into my home for the first time, I couldn't stop smiling. And when we finally scrape together the budget for a third floor extension, I know exactly who I am calling.
I contracted Solcom to basically fix what another contractor couldn't do which was to conceal wires after a TV hookup and they did it expertly and very fast. I was very impressed by Pablo's work and the price was very fair. Everything was explained and Pablo was courteous and professional. I definitely recommend them and will call them for any jobs I will have in the future!
PTI was referred to me by a friend who used them and I have to say that they lived up to the hype! I bought a 78” UHD/4K Samsung TV and a surround sound system with 7.1 audio channels, receiver, Xbox One, PS4, a PC gaming rig that I wanted to use on the TV with a wireless keyboard/mouse set up, and all of that tied into a infrared universal remote. It was a complicated set up, especially considering I wanted the wires hidden, the big TV mounted, and PTI did everything I asked and recommended I do things that actually made it better in the end. Their experience, professionalism, courtesy, fair price, and final product was all worth every penny I spent. I can’t recommend them enough!!! David was my installer and I’d recommend you ask for him. I remember him telling me he used to to installs for a lot of the government contractors in the area, so I know he’s great!
We are baby-proofing our home and mounting the flat screen TV was on the list of to-dos. I did my research, and the price quoted by Poseidon was competitive with the other companies that I called. What made me go with Poseidon was the responsiveness of Alex. He answered my questions promptly, and asked for pictures of the TV and the space to get an idea of what we needed. Over the course of e-mails and texts, we figured out the scope of the work and Alex came to install the TV two days after. The mount that he had was too small for our TV, so he left to obtain the right-size one. Overall, the experience was easy and pleasant, and I would call Poseidon again if we need further work from them.
I hired Antonio (Tony) Sanchez from Renaissance Restoration to complete a kitchen renovation this past fall (sorry I did not get around to completing this review sooner!). I did all the demolition, but the job included lights and electrical, plumbing repair, cabinet and counter top install, appliance install, and painting. Tony gave a very reasonable estimate and personally worked on my project with his assistant from start to finish as opposed to having one of his employees complete the job. As he began the job, he soon realized that virtually nothing from the original construction was square (townhouse was built in 1987). However, that did not phase him as he had the skills to adjust making those imperfections unnoticeable in the end. In addition, Tony has skills in most of the trades which meant that he did not have to sub different parts of the job out; he did all the electrical, plumbing and carpentry himself. The best part of my experience working with Tony was that he discussed and explained different options or ways of completing a task to ensure there were no surprises, and I was impressed with his willingness to even teach me a little along the way. He was flexible in allowing me to have a friend install the tile floor and was understanding of my need to stick to a rather tight budget. There are only two comments I could make for overall improvement: cleanliness and timeliness. On a couple of occasions, I had to discard empty food containers and drinks that had been left behind. I attributed this to oversight and could be easily improved by making an effort to clean up the work site after each day of work. Considering it was not a space I was using though, it was not that big of a deal. As for timeliness, the project took longer than expected to complete. However, I know that my involvement did have some impact on the schedule and the fact he was doing the work himself while still managing other jobs is a factor. I would not hesitate to bring Tony in for another project in the future. I am completely satisfied with his work and would recommend him to anyone.
I created a project to have some outside floodlight fixtures repaired because new lights weren't powering on. Rodney was no muss, no fuss. He arrived on time, actually hours earlier than estimated within the time frame because I wasn't working that day. He worked cooly, calmly, and collectively with intention rather than lallygagging around; neither slowly or hurriedly. Fixed the problem and explained what it was, without any attempt to overstate the problem, add unnecessary time to the clock, or up sell services or cost to repair. Though skilled at what he does, he spoke plainly and simply so that I could understand what the problem was, which he quickly troubleshot and immediately diagnosed. Pricing was very fair, hourly, but he fixed the problem under an hour, but estimated before arrival that resolution shouldn't extend beyond two hours. Confidence, I like that. Long story short: I tipped him closer to two hours which comments on the fairness of his pricing and the satisfaction of his results. Even when one's satisfied with a resolution but feels the repair costs were necessarily expensive or more costly than they should be, one never, ever tips. So would I hire him again? Of course: He's my new permanent electrician. Thanks!
I wanted to update my old kitchen. But didn't want to spend tons of money on a prestigious company for a cheap-fix- me up. I went online and loved the pictures of his previous work. I told him my budget. And they totally came up with an even better kitchen than what I had in mind! Got ride of the old cabinets, all the clutter, brought in some natural light, organized cabinet space, and gave an open-modern look to my kitchen. They were very professional, always on time, ethical and courteous. I never want to leave my kitchen now! It's my favorite space from the house. When company come over.... They actually think I spend a lot of money remodeling. Totally recommend Valle Remodeling.
Sam first traveled to my home to review my work request and give me an estimate. I hired Sam to install a chandelier in my dining room, shelves in the laundry room, peg board in my garage, 2 ceiling lights in a walk in closet, window blinds, caulk 2 bath tubs, curtain rods, grab bar in bath tub and repair a ceiling fan. Sam was punctual, took care to protect areas he was working in and completed all work in a timely and professional manner. Sam takes pride in his work and it shows in the end results. The cost was very reasonable and I highly recommend Sam and will hire him for projects in the future.

Zivan showed up right on time and quickly fixed the light sensor for my post light. He was very friendly and knew what he was doing. He explained my options for replacing the light sensor and left the instructions for the new light sensor so I could know what to replace in the future (if it ever wears out). He took the time to answer my questions about the repair. Zivan went the extra mile and replaced missing screws for the post light (which was not part of the repair). His fee for the service was very reasonable. I would definitely call him first for my future electrical needs.

We have been using the services of Divanil Gomes for about 4 years for repair on our home as well on our rental properties. Divanil did a superb job remodeling our kitchen, with meticulous craftsmanship in his tile work (both backsplash and floor tiles). Divanil also did tile work on both of our upstairs bathrooms creatively using a number of high-end remnant tiles that were given to us. Besides his excellent tile work, Divan and his crew have installed maple wooden floors in our top floor, and did a great painting job on our walls. As an example of his resourcefulness, Divanil repurposed a number of extra interior floor tiles to remodel our outside deck. After being impressed by his work on our main home, we have hired Divanil for several jobs on our rental properties. From remodeling kitchens, bathrooms, tiling utility room to painting and roof repairs, Divanil proved to be a reliable and affordable solution for maintaining our rental units. Given our experience, we can recommend the handyman services of Divanil Gomes without any hesitation.

I had Unique Homes (Simeon) complete 4 different projects for me, each progressively bigger. All of them were successful -- although not without little issues that came up now and then, but that were always taken care of. The prices were very good and the jobs were done well. Job #1 - I had a front porch that needed concrete work. This was a relatively small job, but it was done well. Job #2 - This was a remodel of small bathroom. Again, the job was done well and was a good price. And Simeon indulged us owners half-way through the project when we did not like something about the floor tiles we had chosen. Totally our issue, we did not really like how it looked when it started getting installed. But he undid some of his work and we were able to fix it. Job #3 - This was a full bathroom remodel, so a more significant job. Again, this project was done well, but the costs savings really started to come through on this project. We were very happy with the final look of the bathroom. Job #4 - This was by far the biggest job. It was a complete remodel of our master bathroom. I had received various quotes from other contractors in the $30-40K range for the project (including materials). Simeon's prices were less than a third of that, however that did not include any of the materials. In the end, I think the materials is the source of a lot of the savings since I think the others hide mark-ups (or store kick-backs) in the materials. For this project we went to some high end stores and looked at their display designs and chose/copied what we liked. We chosen something that was based on a white marble tile as a base ...and Lowes/HD carried it at a fraction of the cost of Tile City. I think we saved $5k on the marble along. We bought some of the more unique accent stuff in Tile City at full price, but for everything else we were able to replicate the Tile City look with HD or Lowe's materials of equal quality. We bought a high end shower panel, but bought it through Costco. The same fixture at a high-end bathroom store was thousands more than what we paid. At some higher end stores Simeon would give us the Unique Homes discount that he had negotiated. Some places (like the glass doors for the shower) were still expensive...but I ended up with the same bathroom that would have been $40k for about $20K. So yes, I recommend Unique Homes.
We offer quality home repair and improvement services at a fraction of what contractors and large companies charge, and with a 100% satisfaction guarantee to come with it! We know our work is quality, so we stand behind it.
Justin & his assistant did a wonderful job in wall mounting our 60 " television. They arrived promptly. He was kind enough to take my husband to Home Depot to select the appropriate mount & accessories. They worked quickly & made certain that the TV & components were working properly when they finished. We will definitely use them for other projects.
