We initially met with John regarding fence replacement. We discussed other options, as he "said" he was a contractor and did all forms of remodel. So, we hired him to do work on an investment property in Aug/Sept 2018 His job consisted of: 1. Tile work in bathroom (mediocre job; grout is already cracking and tile pattern does not line up as it should 2. Install new kitchen cabinets, install plumbing once counter tops were placed (cabinets are not lined up and seams are visible; COULD NOT figure out how to do the plumbing so we had to hire a plumber) 3. Install solid bamboo flooring throughout entire home. Specifically purchase the "nail down" flooring (HORRIBLE JOB - the floor was not nailed as instructed and agreed upon. Instead it is floated and had moved to the point we have to have the entire 1250 sq feet of flooring redone) 4. Extended wall between kitchen and family room - including moving light switch (moving approx 5 feet); (HORRIBLE JOB - did not know how to "move" the light switch so he just left it hanging out of the wall where it was; was not supposed to take the wall to the ceiling but he did so he "cut" an opening and framed it in. It was not even - approx 1/2 inch off from one side to the other. 5. John wanted payment prior to going on vacation and before "completing" the work. Instead of paying only for the work completed, my husband paid the full amount (stupid, i know). John did return to finish the work, but the conversation between he and my husband did not go well and John was UNWILLING to fix the issues and would not return any of the money. I am not in the process of hiring a new contractor (the one I should have hired from the beginning). However, this is going to cost another LARGE sum of money that I already paid once to someone who clearly should stick to building fences and not sell himself as a general contractor.

How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started at 12 yrs old doing foundations with dad and grandpa. At 15 I started roofing for 10 yrs. I moved on to union highway construction spent 19 yrs at that profession. I worked on all my family and friends homes in that time as well as my own
