About
History Mission Painting was founded in 1985. "As a frustrated homeowner, we were tearing our hair out trying to find honest, reliable contractors." What was our solution? "We started our own company based on hassle-free service. That meant taking personal responsibility for every aspect of a job." Mission Painting's reputation spread. Today, online reviews set the pace. "Potential clients can see hundreds of unedited comments about how we deliver on our promises." From the start, our painting clients "kept asking for other services." In response, we expanded to include windows, siding, masonry and more. Crews now handle virtually all residential or commercial work, from repairs to entire additions. To reflect this growth, Mission Painting added the words "Home Improvements" to their name, but the original promise of "hassle-free service" will never change. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Don’t be fooled by phony reviews. Don’t take our word for it. Here are some excerpts from Mission Painting customers: “Punctual, thorough and efficient. Communication was effortless before, during, and after the project. Our house looks great! –-Marie from Shawnee “I called the top five painters. Mission Painting had the most detailed quote; plus, they had a great masonry guy for stonework. My home looks new! They are professional, personable, and affordable.” –-Alex from Overland Park “They exceeded my expectations. They even sent a crew to touch up spots for a new home buyer at no charge. That’s delighting the customer. They’ll be the only call I make.” –-Christopher from Overland Park “They arrived promptly to give a bid. I was impressed with time spent asking and answering questions. I do beautiful work. I'm pleased with finished product.” –-Barb from Mission Hills “They fixed our walls then repainted. It was flawless work. I will always look to this company first. They worked fast and were very professional.” –-Farjana from Leawood “They are great at answering questions. I'm very pleased with the time and effort put into cleaning up after they finished each night. It looks even nicer than we expected.” –-Kelly from Lee's Summit “Our siding was disintegrating. Rick knows a lot about siding. It looks fantastic. They worked their behinds off to get our house painted during a super rainy season.” –-Lisa from Overland Park “They demonstrated a high level of expertise identifying a problem and creating a solution to stop water incursion and damage. The carpenter took time to explain each step.” –-Susan from Olathe “They gave me a quote on-the-spot plus valuable suggestions for colors and decorating tips. They are exceptionally skilled. I found Mission Painting and am glad I did!” –-Kevin from Leawood “They installed vertical siding on my home. They always responded to phone calls quickly. They started and completed the job on time and budget.” –-Curt from Prairie Villiage “The quote was prompt, detailed, and accurate. The team was friendly and on time. They really paid attention to the details. They are extremely neat; there are no drips or spatters.” –-John from Mission “From start to finish, it was easy. I was very busy at work and emailed questions and ideas, and they responded right away. It looks amazing.” –-Kathryn from KCMO “I called in a panic, and he immediately arranged a crew to come the next day. They did an excellent job power washing the entire house. I'm extremely pleased with their responsiveness and quality.” –-Mike from Leawood

Mission Painting did an excellent job. They were extremely professional from the get go. They outlined exactly what they would do, and were was responsive, professional, and detail-oriented. They gave me an estimate, and a few days later started the job. Prices were clearly communicated and confirmed prior to moving forward. Cleaned up each day before leaving and very thoroughly after the job was done.

We recently contracted with Mission Painting & Home improvements to paint our homes exterior and have been totally satisfied with every aspect of the job.Our initial contact was with Eric who explained everything in detail and provided and estimate. We had two change orders which increased the final cost, but this was because we added to the scope of the work and chose an expensive paint. So if you are type of person who needs a down to the penny quote, make sure you know exactly what you want going in. Ricky and his crew: Selvin, Daniel and Robert were amazingly efficient, knowledgeable and hardworking all the while dealing with pop up thunderstorms and scorching heat. Every surface was cleaned, repaired, caulked and taped prior to painting. Honestly I think they spent 75% of their time prepping and only 25% painting but you can certainly see how all this prep work positively affected the finished product. I also appreciated the fact that they were careful around all my plantings which are numerous and quite frankly probably a pain to work around. When they were finished the job site was cleaned of all trash and debris which in my experience is often not the case. After completion I did a “walk around” with both Ricky and Jordan, the project manager, and didn’t find one problem. How often can you say that? If something does come up I am confident they will resolve it promptly. Mission Painting may not be lowest bid, but you get what you pay for, and I feel like I received good value for my money. I would hire these guys again in a heartbeat.

We were very pleased with the quality of work by Mission Painting. From the bidding process to the final walk through, the attention to detail and communication were fantastic. The crew, Selvin, Ricky, Daniel, and Robert, are top notch - friendly and very professional. Selvin even helped our daughter when she fell off her bike in front of the house by helping her up and carrying her bike into the garage. The paint on the house looks better now than when it was new four years ago!

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

At   Mission Painting   we  don’t  take  a  DIME  until  we’re  finished,  so   YOU   hold   all  the  cards.  Why  is  that  important?   Real   estate   expert   Ken   Corsini   has   hired   hundreds   of   contractors   and   painters   on  thousands   of   jobs.   Recently,   he   wrote   an   article   on   why   you   should   NEVER   pay   up   front.   Here’s  an  excerpt   published   in   BiggerPockets.com   …   Why  You  Should  Never  Pay  Your   Contractor   Up   Front   There   are   simply   too   many   fly--by--night  contractors  out  there  who  will  you  tell  you  what  you   want  to  hear  to  get   the   job,   but   will   ultimately   burn   you   in   the   end.    I   recently   made   a   mistake   that   cost   me   money.   I   needed   a   specialty   contractor   to   do   some  work  at   my  personal   house  and  I  simply   didn’t   take   the   time   to   perform   the   necessary   due  diligence.   While   this   gentleman   appeared   to   be   very   knowledgeable   and   professional,   he  was  also   less   expensive   than   other   more   reputable   contractors   in   this   trade.   I   was   more  interested  in  using  the  less  expensive  contractor  in  hopes  of  saving  a  few  bucks   –   mistake  number   ONE.  After   agreeing   to   pricing,   I   committed   the   job   to   him.   Knowing   he  worked  out  of  the  back  of  his   truck,   it   did   not   surprise   me   that   he   wanted   me   to   pay   for   the   materials   up   front.  Against   my   better   judgment,   I   cut   him   a   check   for   materials   with  the  understanding  that  work  would  commence  a  few  days  later  –  mistake  number  TWO.      It   has   been   almost   a   month   and  this   contractor   is   nowhere   to   be   found.  I   am   not   proud   of   the   egg   on   my  face,  but   it’s   worth   sharing   the   importance   of   working  with  reputable   contractors   –   even   when   it   costs   a   little   more.  In  fact,  this  experience   led   me   to  create  a  personal  principle:   Never   work   with   a   contractor   who   needs   payment   before  work  has  started  (including   materials).   If  they  don’t   have   the   means   to   float   material  costs  and  labor,   they   simply   aren’t   worth   the   risk   of   doing   business.   I   don’t   care   if   it’s   your  friend,   your   cousin   or   even   your   pastor   –   a  contractor  who  doesn’t  have  the  cash   flow   to  begin   a   project   is   one   small   crisis   away   from   walking   away   with   your   money.    We  agree!  There  are  NO  upfront  costs  at  Mission Painting.  We  start  your  job   with   a  handshake.  Beware  of  painters   or   contractors   who   want   money   up   front  –   that’s   a   big   red   flag   they   may   be  financially  unstable  or  unscrupulous.  Call us today  or visit  MissionPaintingKC.com.
