About
Welcome, students and parents! As a longtime teacher and educational psychologist (learning theorist), I've taught and tutored math, reading, writing, statistics (graduate level), and social science over five decades, working with tens of thousands of students from second grade through the doctoral level. We now know the pandemic set many learners back one to two years, with the most recent National Grade Card reporting that reading scores are down nearly 10 points, and nearly 40% of students aren’t able to do math at grade level. It’s high time to stop making excuses and instead, start finding solutions. My academic training has continued up to recent years. During my life, I've worked with thousands of individuals with a very wide range of learning and mental health challenges as well as students working well above grade level. That experience, coupled with decades of training as a learning theorist, enables me to provide an approach tailored to the strengths and needs of each student. I focus on mathematics, reading, writing, and statistics and use a wide variety of online materials I subscribe to, including practice materials that I create in real time and email to students. My mission in life has been, and continues to be, to help students of all ages and backgrounds gain the confidence they need to achieve at their highest levels. I would be honored to collaborate with you!

Todd is an outstanding tutor who really knows the material and is able to translate it into digestible lessons for his students to absorb. Our son struggles to feel confident about Math and is subsequently behind so we are working with Todd to help him catch up. Todd is very patient and willing to meet our son where he is, and to take the time to work through any challenge that the material presents. Math can be hard to get a young person feeling connected to but Todd does an excellent job with that. We are grateful for his support in helping our son improve and grow more confident in his math abilities.

Todd is a great tutor. He is patient, knowledgeable, ensures my children understand the concepts they are working on. He takes his time, patient, and uses creative strategies to ensure my children are getting the concepts. My kids love timing yo Todd’s tutoring session and report that they learn more with him than time of their other teachers. We are pleased with Todd and my kids have improved in all subjects. Because of Todd, my kids are thriving in their academics. Thank you Todd for your commitment.

Todd has been an excellent addition to my daughter's learning routine. As a teacher, I appreciate Todd's flexibility, attentiveness, and effective teaching strategies. My daughter has seen tremendous growth and she hates when time ends with Todd. She always wants to do more here. Thank you Todd for all of your help and encouraging my kiddo. Continue keep up the good work!

Todd was a lifesaver! I booked him to help my husband with a statistics class, and he went above and beyond. He’s patient, super knowledgeable, and has a way of breaking things down so they actually make sense. My husband passed with flying colors - huge win. Highly recommend!

FAQs
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My bachelor's degree is in elementary education with additional certifications in math, English, and social studies through high school. I have two master's degrees, one in educational psychology from a school of education and one from a school of behavioral sciences. In addition, I'm ABD in a PhD program; that is, I have fulfilled all the requirements for a PhD except for a completed dissertation. I've spent most of my life in school, so this has helped keep me current in my field; moreover, I spend a great deal of time reading journals, books, and scholarly sources on the Internet related to education and psychology. I am constantly studying!
How did you get started doing this type of work?
After my second year of college, I tutored remedial reading and mathematics for the Shawnee Mission School District. I worked with elementary students. My supervisors noted my extreme patience with the students as well as my desire to get to the bottom of their learning challenges. After that summer experience, I decided to become a teacher!
What types of customers have you worked with?
Over the years, I've typically worked with students who have low self-confidence and are struggling with particular academic subjects such as math, statistics, reading, and writing. My goals are always to greatly improve their skills and their self-confidence.
