Introduction: Hi, I'm Jeff the owner of Functional Cents, a financial coaching business. My goal is to help people get to the root of their money problems and strengthen their financial health. Through 1 on 1 coaching I will work with you on the numbers (budgeting, debt elimination, savings) as well as the other aspects of personal finance that may get overlooked, including focusing on your goals, values and behaviors with money. Many of these things are often overlooked by financial planners, as they are often focused strictly on investments, estate plans, etc. Truth be told, there are many in need of someone to help coach and guide them so they can be in a position to work with a financial planner/advisor down the road. My coaching is designed to do just that.

Jeff was great to work with. He was very thorough in his analysis and when we went through the discovery session, we came away with insights that we didn't really realize before. We worked through our budget and he came up with a plan of action items, and then we followed up a month later with a shorter session to see how I was doing. He showed he truly cared about me as a person and worked with me to ultimately help me solve my goals. It was even more than just about money, he listened to me talk about what I wanted to achieve in life and what was important to me. I wish I had hired a coach a long time ago. He was well worth the money spent and I would recommend him as a coach to anyone else who may need some help with their personal finances.

I reached out to Jeff on getting help with my personal budget after hearing about him from a friend and he was very helpful and professional. He helped me determine and prioritize what goals I really wanted to achieve and walked through a process to get there. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
All of my coaching services begin with a complimentary, no-cost, no-risk 15 minute consultation session. The next step is a discovery deep dive which is $199. I also offer coaching packages for ongoing coaching or al a carte. If you commit to coaching for multiple sessions and pay up front, I offer a discount. Ask for details. I also offer discounts for referrals and reviews. Can provide details in your consultation. Paid sessions require payment upon booking session.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
All of my coaching services begin with a complimentary consultation session. This session allows me to get to know the client a little better and to understand the biggest issues and concerns you have. Then we will develop a plan on if my coaching will be a fit for you, and if so I will offer my suggestions on number of sessions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelors in business management from Kansas State University, as well as an MBA from Washburn University. I currently work full time in corporate finance doing various planning, budgeting, variance reporting, etc. for an energy company. I trained on financial planning and anaIysis (FP&A) certification while at work. I also trained and completed the Ramsey Solutions Master Financial Coach Training program. I love personal finance podcasts and books and am constantly trying to educate myself to learn more!
