About
I believe my work stands out from others because I have a genuine love for my clients. Even if my job is done, and we never cross paths again, I am forever thankful for them being able to give me the opportunity to capture them on my camera. Every shoot is my favorite, every client is my best and I believe it reflects in my work. I spend many, many hours behind the scenes perfecting each image, paying attention to the little details. My work is more than just me taking a few pictures and delivering them to you on a CD. It is a Custom Boutique Photography experience that cannot be replicated. It's so hard to answer this question because there is so much about my job that keeps me loving it more and more each day. Recently I have been capturing Seniors in their finest moments and getting to learn about them, their aspirations and dreams -- that's just so inspiring to me. I love that they are full of this light and hope that gives me a warm feeling inside. To be able to capture that makes me feel like I've done my job. I love the reactions I get when I reveal the images to my clients during their In-Home Session Premier. It is what gives me my greatest motivation. I've seen laughter, tears, "wow" faces, belly laughs and awe-struck. I truly love it.

Our experience with Open Focus Photography was nothing short of awesome. The images that she captured of us were stunning and we are so happy with our final product. Emma has a good eye and creative intuition, which makes her compositions successful. To top that off, she has refined technical skills, is a smart business person and has a broad range of specialty product offerings. The shoot location was literally a walk in the park and even enjoyable for our crazy 3 year old. I prefer to do business with people who are passionate about their work and who I am able to build a relationship with. This is Emma! She is engaging, excited and refreshing to be around. We a so happy we chose Open Focus to do our family photos!

My husband and I were looking to update our pictures and have some with our dog as well. I had been looking for a photographer for years and knew that I wanted somebody professional, but I always thought they were too expensive. After reading about her passion for photography and the value of investing in a photographer, I finally booked a session with Emma. She took amazing photos of my husband and I as well as some of us with our dog. She makes the session fun and will make sure that the smiles on your faces are genuine. In addition to the fun and excitement of the shoot, you can also tell how passionate she is about her photography during the preview session. I'm pretty sure she was just as excited about us seeing our photos as we were. Along with the greatness of her work, Emma is easy to work with. She was able to work with our schedule to fit in the shoot and preview session since we live out of town, and she also helped us create a custom print package. I would definitely recommend Emma and Open Focus Photography for anyone wanting to capture memories through photography.

Emma had a session with my boyfriend and I, and I was a bit nervous at first, as I didn't know her very well. As soon as we, however, she had both myself and my boyfriend laughing hysterically. She didn't stand behind the camera and say, "Say cheese," but actually made us laugh the WHOLE time. Her and her assistant, Lucas did an amazing job making us feel comfortable and natural in all of our photos. She captured not just two people, but two people who were genuinely happy, and the quality of every photo was great! She would get so excited at certain photos she took of us and gave us a sneak peek of a few. After the session was over, VERY shortly we were able to see some proofs she had done, and I was absolutely blown away by her skill level, passion for photos, and definitely the photos we received after the shoot. I couldn't have asked for more from such an awesome photographer. Very diverse, great with people, and she is definitely the best photographer I've ever had (I've been in over 3 shoots already). If you want quality, comfort, and gorgeous pictures, Emma Holton is definitely the way to go.

Emma has been producing creative photography for close to a decade. Her creativity and personality make her fun to work with that will provide a memorable experience along with photos that are sure to please. My partner and I had a session with her and loved the outcome of all of our photos! She provides amazing prints and a wonderful set of digital proofs! I would recommend her to anyone looking for session!

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am ALWAYS looking to take my skill to the next level -- photography is something that even the most skilled photographer will never be able to entirely master, and that's what is so amazing about it. It's ALWAYS changing and evolving, ALWAYS shifting and developing. I think that is why I never grow tired of my trade because each day I can learn something new. I try to attend as many workshops as I possibly can during the Summer season as it is my slowest due to the Kansas heat (humidity...ick!) and so I tend to take that time and travel.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

You are not just paying for your photographer for an hour of shoot time. I put many many hours on every session. This includes preparation, drive time, shooting time, file handling, sifting and sorting images, custom editing and post-processing of images, transferring images to USB's, post office, Fed Ex, etc. There is also the In-Home Session Premier and delivery of the images. Professional equipment is very expensive. Cameras, lenses, computers, software, hardware, workshops, props, etc. Unfortunately these are not one-time purchases, as upgrades must be made or items must be replaced after heavy use. Running a legitimate business is costly. There are taxes, accountant fees, assistant fees, office fees, internet fees, website fees, insurance, coverage, etc. Paying for custom photography of your family, seniors, children is never a bad investment. These are famly heirlooms that hold their value and become irreplacable memories, treasures that appreciate with time.
