FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We belong to the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America, which offers a variety of courses during the year on topics ranging from paint chemistry to business ethics. I take nearly all of the monthly online seminars and also attend as many of the in-person classes as possible. Staying abreast of technology might not seem important in painting, but things do change quickly.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
While painting a house in Newport's East Row Historic District, a neighbor watched us closely and asked what it would take to make his house look as nice as the one we were working on. Although his house had been recently painted, it was with a very bland color scheme. We discussed some alternatives and came in to just add some color and accent the details. Turned out even better than the neighbor who he'd been envying!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure you hire someone you can trust. They should have good liability insurance to protect your house, workers' comp insurance in case one of their employees is injured on your property, and they should be licensed in your area. Check the Better Business Bureau rating, the reviews on Angies List and Google them to see what other people have been saying about their quality.
