Stevan was very nice, gave me a good quote, told me what he was going to do on my first floor rebuild, after the March 2016 Flood. He turned the job over to his son and apparently there was no communication between the 2 of them. I had to wait while they got the labor and materials reports done for a draw from the mortgage company, then they said I should have paid them. They submitted the required paperwork only after the mortgage company called me to see why they hadn't sent any bills. Then they received the 2nd draw, July 13th and we never saw them again, to finish the outside of the house (pressure washing, roof replacement, and insulation under the house, small things that needed to be finished up inside (smoothing edges of granite countertops, filling in the gaps between the walls and the granite that was cut crooked, they decided at the end not to do back splash on the granite, places where they chipped the paint on wall corners, spots where they got paint on the white ceiling, etc. We called and emailed and got no more responses. The job they said would take 3-4 weeks wasn't finished after 3 months.

Ms. Barbara contract was $27,460.00 to remodel her flooded house, they received 18" of water, we gutted house and repaired to A+ finishes, granite counters, new tub & surround, upper cabinets to match bottoms, new water heater, upgraded laminate flooring instead of carpet, etc. all of which the insurance company would not pay for. Ms. Barbara assured me she could pay me with the contents monies out of the project. Ms. Barbara moved in her house 4 weeks before they flooded again and received 8' of water in their house. On our punch list to complete, she wanted backsplash for the granite counters which would be an extra cost, also the floor insulation was bought and paid for but Lowe's delivered the 24" instead of 16" insulation. After flooding the second time, Ms. Barbara emailed me stating she didn't owe me any money because we didn't finish. After giving her a credit of $980.00 for the Labor to install the insulation, she owes Gilco Home Services $10,830.00 of a $27K contract, Its unfortunate that they flooded again, but Ms. Barbara makes you believe with the above review that we took money for the roof and left, the roof was a separate contract which we quoted only, received no deposit on the roof, we were not interested in moving forward with that contract because she didn't pay us for the first contract. Our standard OH/Profit on remodels are 12%, or $3,200 for her contract, to this date i lost almost $7,000 dollars for non payment, but she received the money from insurance company. 30 years of contracting, we take our reputation seriously, we have only filed 3 lawsuits in 30 years to get paid, this will be the 4th. I have given away more than this to customers that fall on hard times, but when a customer spends money that isn't theirs, Im less sympathetic, 2 draws for the insurance company was a 2 party checks to protect both of us, the last draw went to the Ms. Barbara, therefore we didn't get our last draw with the extra work due. Also, to set the record straight, we submitted a draw to Ms. Barbara, she forwarded it to the mortgage company, after hearing every excuse from Ms. Barbara and the Mortgage company, it took us almost 6 weeks to get our first draw, we were ready for flooring and still haven't received our 1st check for $10k., so I also financed the whole job for them. My understanding is that she is living off the money because they flooded again, I guess she thought if she gives me a bad review that she would not owe me the money. Steve Gill

I wanted to hire Gilco for my cabinet installation but since my son was further along in his project, I decided to wait until his work was finished and then begin my job. His price seemed fair. The work he did perform on my son's home seemed to be ok; however, what should have been a week-long job stretched on. He would only work about 4 hours a day (if that long), and sometimes only for a couple of hours. Installing crown moulding, baseboards and shoe moulding should only have been two days but dragged on. When my son expressed concerns about his project, Steve made light of it and then had the nerve to insult my daughter in law, stating that she was a female and what did she know about load-bearing walls. This is totally unprofessional and insulting to a paying customer. It is not in my nature to bash somebody but I feel he should not be so rude and not conduct his business in an unprofessonal manner. I will not be using him to complete my cabinet installation.

Where do I start? If it seems like i have an attitude, read between the lines. 1. If you sign a contract and it states 20% deposit day of starting and then you tell me after 4 days of us working, you finally got the checkbook from your wife, I've heard this before, you didn't invent it, be prepared, I prepared for your job. 2. If your going to save money by doing the demo yourself, please have it done before we show up, or call and let me re-schedule, just like you promised, It cost me time and money to work around the things not completed. 3. The job involved, Electrical, Plumbing, Drywall, taping & floating, doors and trim, 2 week job, we were there for 5 days, stopped because the flooring contractor needed the house for 3 days. Kathleen wasn't involved in the schedule and has no idea how long things take or how long we worked, we only work 4 hours on Saturday, the day she was there, Customer scheduled the flooring contractor before the trim and doors, not knowing what he was doing, so we work on Sunday for 4 hours to help out. 4.When it was me and a helper, Son had no problems, when I brought my full crew over, He had problems with "the Mexicans". FYI Hondurans. 5. The wife works 12 hour night shift as a nurse, after her shift on a Sunday, we walked in the house, she was running a demo hammer on the ceramic tile, the husband, Kathleens' Son, was across the street for 40 minutes eating a sandwich, We stayed and helped for 4 hours free of charge demoing the floor, he was working on the floor for 2 months demoing, it should have taken 1 day, 400 sq. ft. total. 6.The son was my point of contact for the whole job, he said we had lack of communication, because i didn't tell his wife about a load bearing wall. I told him i didn't need to tell her, your my contact, He proceeded to tell me she is a smart person, and is capable of understanding. "I was already aware she was the smarter of the two." 7. Finally, if you would have told me you had problems with "the Mexicans", I would have told you "stuff your job you know where". Yes, Kathleen, we would have passed on your job, I understand kids learn this stuff at a young age. Thanks for letting me vent. Steve Gill
