Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I think Wags By Mags stands out because I've been in business for 7 years now, full time, as both a 9-5 Mon-Fri dog walker and a nights and weekends pet sitter - meaning I have a LOT of experience. I've dealt with literally hundreds of dogs and cats of every shape, size, age, breed and temperament, and I've walked dogs and visited cats in just about every neighborhood of New Orleans. I've dealt with all kinds of emergency situations, administered medications, and have provided transportation to/from dog parks, daycare, kennels, and vets. And I've successfully navigated just about every nightmare scenario one could imagine could happen in this line of work. There's not much I haven't dealt with, which makes me feel like there's not much I can't handle. I'm mature, responsible and dependable. There are many things I enjoy about my work. I love the animals, first and foremost. I grew up with dogs and as an adult have always had cats, so I speak both languages. And I really just enjoy being of service, to both my animal clients and their humans. But also I love being outdoors - well, most of the time. (We do get some extreme weather here in New Orleans, from excessive heat to severe thunderstorms to floods. But most days I'm thrilled to not be cooped up in an office!) I love the physicality too, the exercise. And of course I love being my own boss. There's a lot to love about this line of work!

Dog Walking

We are extremely overprotective first-time dog parents, and Mags has been a lifesaver for our Frida! It is such a relief to know that we have someone trustworthy, friendly, and loving to take our pup for a walk during the day when work keeps us away from home for long stretches of time. Thank you so much, Mags! Your services are greatly appreciated!

Dog Walking

Cheerful and Reliable. What more could you ask for in a dog walker?

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

For many years I worked on a sliding scale. Recently I was made aware that advertising as such puts me in a precarious legal position, so I've done away with that. But I will still entertain discounts for students, artists, seniors, or anyone who is low-income or on a fixed income - just message me to discuss. Please see my website's "rates" page for all of my fees for various services - wagsbymags.com.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

The first thing I want to do is clarify the details. I find that Thumbtack's request sheet is not very well tailored to dog walking and/or petsitting, so sometimes the information provided is unclear or just incomplete. I'll likely email or text you to have this conversation, because I like to have a written record of things. When all that has been cleared up and we are both sure we want to work together, then I will schedule a free meet and greet session, so I can meet you and your animals and get details about the job and your home. At this time, we'll go over expectations - yours and mine - and all the details of the job, and if all goes well, I'll get a key or entry code or other means to enter your home to care for your animals and will book you into my schedule.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have no formal training, just 7 years of full-time on-the-job training!

Not what you’re looking for?

No problem: we have pros for every job.
