Johnny D. says, "My wife and I live in New York & New Orleans. We are fixing up an 1880s Double Shotgun in the Marigny. I hadn't been in the house for a few months and was shocked to see that some of our fireplaces were falling down. I did a quick Google search and found Sam's Construction. The reviews were excellent so I reached out to him. About 10 minutes later I got a call! We made a date and he came over to see the damage. I was heartbroken to think that we might lose our fireplaces but Sam assured me that he could make them "good as new". He said that it would just take a day or two and gave me what I thought was a very reasonable price. He said that he would be there at 9am and at 9am on the dot the doorbell rang. Sam came in with 2 assistants and rebuilt 4 fireplaces with steel plates to reinforce the brick. He matched the old mortar exactly so that when he was done, you couldn't tell. It took them one day to do the work then another hour the next day to finish off the mortar. Sam promised me that they would look "good as new" and they do! New Orleans is notorious for workers not showing up. They say things like, "Well, you know, it's only 6 weeks til Mardi Gras" as an excuse. Sam is that rare exception. He's right on time, right on budget and the work is impeccable."See more
