Having a doula at your birth is like having a portable, on-demand childbirth class with you when you need it most. I also provide relaxing touch and energy release with my hands-on Reiki practice.
Birth Doulas provide emotional, psychological, physical, and sometimes spiritual support throughout labor and delivery. Birth Doulas also assist partners in being as supportive and involved as they would like to be throughout the labor process.
Birth doulas do not provide medical advice, but they will educate you on what your choices are and what the possible consequences of those choices may be.
Research shows that women who deliver with a birth or massage doula experience a shorter birth, use less or no-pain medications, and are less likely to be induced or need assisted delivery such as forceps, vacuum, and c-section.
