FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Initial Consultation: Our journey begins with a complimentary initial consultation. This is a no-obligation conversation where we discuss your health goals, dietary preferences, any current health issues, and lifestyle. It's also a great opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to ask any questions you might have about my approach. Detailed Assessment: If you decide to move forward, I'll ask you to complete a detailed assessment focusing on your dietary history, eating habits, and lifestyle factors. This helps us build a comprehensive picture of your needs, facilitating the creation of a personalized nutrition plan. Personalized Plan Development: Based on the information gathered during our initial consultation and your detailed assessment, I'll develop a personalized meal plan and wellness strategy tailored to your specific needs. This plan will focus on nurturing your body with whole foods, and it may incorporate strategies for managing dietary restrictions, optimizing nutrient intake, and addressing any anti-inflammatory needs. Coaching Sessions: Together, we'll have regular coaching sessions virtually. We'll craft sessions that cater to your unique interests and needs. The frequency and type of our meetings will be entirely based on your preferences, ensuring you receive personalized support every step of the way. Ongoing Support: I'm here to offer ongoing support and guidance. Whether you have questions between sessions, need motivation, or want to share your successes, I encourage open communication. My goal is to support you in making sustainable changes that move you toward your health and wellness goals. Review and Adjust: Wellness is a journey, not a destination. As you progress, your needs and goals may evolve. We'll regularly review your plan and make any necessary adjustments to keep you on track towards achieving your health objectives. I'm committed to providing a supportive, non-judgmental space for you to explore your health and nutrition. Together, we'll work towards unlocking the healing power of food, empowering you to make informed choices that contribute to your overall well-being.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My path to becoming a nutrition coach was deeply personal. Diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) at 18 months old, I embarked on a journey to understand how my diet could influence my health and well-being. Through years of experimenting with whole, plant-based foods and witnessing the positive changes in my own health, I became passionate about the power of nutrition. This personal exploration inspired me to share my knowledge and experiences, leading me to offer nutrition coaching. My goal is to help others discover how tailored dietary choices can significantly impact their wellness journey, just as I did with mine.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When looking to hire a provider in the realm of nutrition, health, and wellness coaching, here are a few pieces of advice to consider: Seek Personalized Attention: Everyone's body, lifestyle, and nutritional needs are unique. Choose a provider who emphasizes personalized meal plans and wellness strategies over one-size-fits-all solutions. The willingness to tailor their approach to your specific needs is crucial. Look for a Holistic Approach: Holistic nutritionists not only focus on food but also consider other aspects of your life that impact your health, such as stress, sleep, and physical activity. Ensure your provider incorporates these broader wellness factors into their coaching. Communication Style: It’s important that you feel comfortable with your nutrition coach’s communication style. They should be a good listener, empathetic, and able to provide motivation and support in a way that resonates with you. Alignment with Your Dietary Philosophy: Whether you’re plant-based, paleo, keto, or have specific dietary restrictions, look for a provider whose expertise and personal dietary philosophy align with your own or who is open and respectful of your dietary choices. Consultation Process: Opt for professionals who offer an initial consultation. This meeting is not just about them understanding your needs but also about you gauging their fit for your wellness journey. Transparency: A trustworthy provider is clear about the boundaries of their practice, especially regarding non-licensed nutritionists. They should openly communicate what they can and cannot offer and encourage collaboration with healthcare professionals when necessary. Continuous Learning: Nutrition science evolves constantly. A provider committed to their professional development through ongoing education is likely to offer the most current and comprehensive guidance.
