Introduction: My approach as a college consultant: 1. Maximize your admissions outcomes. 2. View the college app process as an opportunity for skill-building & lifelong personal growth. I have served as a college consultant since 2010. My students have earned admissions to a wide range of schools including Princeton and Yale, small liberal arts colleges including Swarthmore and Amherst, and major cosmopolitan universities like NYU and BU. I co-founded Beson Education and I helped to found Gakko Education, raising over $6M in funding. I train young entrepreneurs who want to stand out to top colleges as a certified Spike Coach at The Spike Lab. I graduated from Yale University cum laude and with distinction in my major. I offer all-inclusive services. I cover all aspects of the college application process, including overarching strategy, thorough essay feedback, and college list optimization in 12th grade. I coach students starting as early as 8th grade. Some decide to boost their college competitiveness by building “Spikes” with me - innovative entrepreneurial projects. I work both locally and over Zoom with American and international students. For local students, we can meet at my home office. I coach my students through the entire process while minimizing stress and maximizing outcomes. We approach the application strategically, ensuring students make the best impression possible. I love transforming the application process into an opportunity for personal growth and lifelong skill-building. I care deeply about each of my students and am dedicated to helping them achieve their college goals and longer-term career goals.

I developed some of my most important qualities working with Nate over the years. One thing that I remember most vividly about my early relationship with Nate was the way he would question, or rather lead me to question, myself. While this may first come off as bad, it is important to note the powerful distinction between self doubt and self examination, the former being destructive but the latter being the process by which all self-cognizant and introspective individuals are built. Nate constantly pushed me to question everything from the little decisions I would make to the deeper underlying motives that dictated my actions. This type of guidance led me to develop the unique ability to truly understand myself and therefore the ability to build myself to the person I want to be. When it came to the college process there was nothing more valuable than knowing myself on a truly deep level. The self-cognizance I developed with Nate was critical in the decisions I had to make as to what colleges would fit me and how I would go about the college application process as a whole. The application process can be summed up as a presentation of oneself, and those who know themselves best come out ahead. Without a doubt there are a hundred fold more qualified candidates that apply to a school than the school accepts. The real distinction is made between the candidates that are able to present themselves not just superficially, but in a meaningful way. The fact that Nate took care to know me too, aided in the process of putting together a meaningful presentation of myself. Looking back, the relationship I built with Nate helped me build a relationship with myself.

Nate was a fantastic guide through the application process: attentive, timely, and professional. He was very insightful in strategizing to improve my daughter's admissions chances at very competitive schools and helped us better understand the application process. As the application crunch time approached, he increased his hours to make himself more available to us, quite helpful during that high stress period. I would certainly recommend him.

Nate truly improved not only the material in my applications, but also the time and effort going into them. He aided me in my application process in every aspect, adhering to all my goals. He was genuinely interested in getting to know me and my interests well and paid a lot of attention to detail. His research guides for different schools were incredibly helpful when I was writing my "why" essays, especially because he was good at finding the aspects of schools that lined up with my interests. Sometimes, it felt like it took a lot of work to meet his standards, but in the end I think this made my applications much better. He inspired me to brainstorm with different ideas and running with them until they were concrete essays, ready to submit. His optimism and encouragement played an essential role in my application process.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I am flexible with pricing. My services are available hourly or through comprehensive packages with upfront prices that we set together at the outset. I offer financial aid for low-income families and special cases.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I always offer a complimentary initial consultation and "get to know you session" to understand your needs and hopes, how you like to work, and explain my background and strategies. From there, we agree on goals together and I draft an action plan with timeline to guide us.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have worked as an independent college counselor helping students apply for colleges since 2010. I have tutored in academic subjects and SAT tests since 2008. I also have extensive experience helping international, multi/bicultural, multi/bilingual students, and students whose primary language is not English (ESL) apply to universities around the world. I worked on GAKKO Project for two years, which is an international start-up based in New Haven, CT and Tokyo, Japan that aims to improve education globally by reworking traditional approaches to teaching and learning. As a board member and project director, I was in charge of developing an innovative curriculum integrating fresh approaches to pedagogy for high school students. We had students who came from all over Asia to attend our workshops and camps. Finally, as a graduate of Yale University with active ties to the university, I can offer useful insights into campus culture, available resources, and guide applications based on my understanding of the Yale admissions committee's values.
