FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
While my main background consists of over fifteen years in the world of sales and business management, I have gained extensive experience handling animals on both a personal and professional level. In 2007, I held a part-time position at a well known doggie daycare as the overnight pet care provider. I was responsible for handling a cageless facility that housed up to fifty dogs per night. During that time I had the pleasure of working with the co-founder of the daycare and a wonderful staff of knowledgeable team members. From them I gained additional insight on dog behavior and handling techniques that I found to be exciting and quite successful. As a matter of fact, I still employ these techniques with my own dogs today! My position at the doggy daycare was such a pleasure. It didnÂt feel like work at all, and I always looked forward to my time at the center. I made lots of dog buddies, and I instantly fell in love with the pet care industry. Although I always knew I had a special place in my heart for all of my own furry family members, it was at this point in my life that I quickly realized the passion I had for working with animals.

- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Take time in selecting your pet care company. Not only do you want to know that your pets will be happy spending time with their dog walker or pet sitter, but for your security and peace of mind, verify that the company is fully licensed, bonded and insured. You can ask for copies of certificates to confirm the company's status. Your dog walker or pet sitter should also be carefully screened by your pet care provider. Confirm this by requesting a copy of your dog walker or pet sitter's background check.
