FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly keeping up with certifications and taking online courses on new software that has been released. In this field I've found that they best way to learn is by doing, so I'm constantly testing new products and software iterations to see what has changed and learn their nuances.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I like to solve problems and I like to help people. I realized that it's more about teaching people how to use the technology that they have to their advantage and allowing them to empower themselves with the knowledge they take away from fixing a problem. The cliche of the quiet IT guy in the back office is long gone. Technology is now about people, relationships and communication.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common job I run into is remote troubleshooting either over the phone or through remote access software. I can usually resolve most problems efficiently this way and often will wind up answering questions about best practices or what software/hardware would best suit a clients needs for what they are looking to accomplish.
