He has been so punctual and professional each week. He was able to connect with my Son and what he needed to work on & go that extra mile with his Mandarin. Zhong Li is very patient and kind, but helps ensure I am actually learning and communicating correctly and effectively. She is also helping me avoid awkward or strange interactions in real world settings by teaching me a more practical, everyday way of speaking (as that is my goal). Joseph M. says, "I’m an older semi-retired Westerner wishing to develop respectable conversational Mandarin. I’m so pleased that I found Dongni. Our first lesson was immediately adjusted to my level. I didn’t feel shy or awkward when trying to make proper pronunciation which must sound painful given my South Jersey accent. We explored the Mandarin accent an inflection symbols and that was immediately helpful. Dongni was well prepared with slides that she sent me after the lesson. The slides were clear, concise and very helpful post-lesson. I found Dongni’s manner to be well suited for teaching. She was able to instruct, guide and correct in the most charming and non-threatening way. This added to my hopes of achieving my goal. We have all experienced sour instructors who routinely roll their eyes or wince(driver Ed). Dongni on the other hand was so positive that I started to fantasize about being a translator at the UN(almost). I’m already trying out my Mandarin pronunciation with my Chinese friends. I’m way more encouraged than I thought I would be at this early stage."See more
