Lenae has been teaching my daughter for over a year now. She is well tuned to children, and provides just enough incentive to encourage them to practice while making it enjoyable. She is well connected in the music community and there are numerous opportunities to perform, but never any pressure. We are grateful to have such a talented, and educated teacher in our community!Apr 14, 2016
Lenae has been my voice teacher for the past 3 years. I am one of her adult students and starting as an adult wasn't easy, but she has really taken the time to help me gain confidence in myself as a singer. She has always gone out of her way to fit my lesson in verses my work schedule. She teaches teens and young students voice and piano , it's nice to see them play and sing at recitals. I thank her for all she has done and continues to do encouraging me in my musicApr 6, 2016
My son has been taking piano lessons with Lenae for the past 5 years and we have been very happy with her. As he is approaching his teenage years, it's been a bit of a struggle to keep him interested but Lenae works hard to keep him engaged. She tries to find music he prefers while keeping him progressing musically. She is very patient and has a gentle manner with my son. Lenae also provides thorough and useful feedback on a regular basis. I would highly recommend Lenae if you are seeking piano lessons for your child or yourself (she has adult students too).Apr 12, 2016
Lenae is a wonderful piano teacher. She is patient, approachable, and professional. I am learning so much from her lessons and I highly recommend her! I am an adult student who just started up again after 30 years.Jan 22, 2019Verified
She is amazing and kind and actually knows how to teach not just piano, but also voice. I look forward to our continued lessons.Jan 4, 2019Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? For piano, voice or organ lessons I charge $30/half hour for one lesson per week. I give a discount for families with more than one student/week of $28/half hour. I charge $45 for a 45-min. lesson, and $60 for one-hour lessons. I charge $300 for weddings, $200 for funerals, and $250-$300 for about 2-3 hours of entertainment for parties/events. To play for musical theater shows, my fee will depend upon the number of rehearsals and performances.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? As a teacher, I try to be upbeat, welcoming and put people at ease. I use humor in the lessons to keep things fun and lessen anxiety. With piano students I begin with a basic introduction to the piano as an instrument, start with 5-finger exercises they can do before they know anything about music, and use a method book best suited for the age of the student. Once the student is reading notes on the staff, I introduce other books based on their ability and interests. With voice students I start with the basics of posture, breathing, tone production and diction. With some students I have to work on just helping them match pitches before we can move into any literature. As a performer, I will ask for information about what type of event you are having and what type of music you are looking for, and we will come to an agreement on what pieces I will sing or play. We will cover things like venue, whether or not an instrument is at the venue, etc.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a Bachelor's of Music degree from Stetson University in DeLand FL and a Master's in Music from Yale University School of Music/Institute of Sacred Music. I have been playing piano and singing in choral groups since age 5. I have been an accompanist since about age 10. I have over 38 yrs. of teaching experience and as many years of experience as an organist/choir director as well.
