About
I am a scientist and have been tutoring for 10 years, specializing in algebra 1 and 2, chemistry, organic chemistry, PSAT/SAT prep, and study/organizational skills.
I hold an MS in chemical engineering from Columbia University in 2019 and a BS in Neurobiology from the University of Texas at Austin.
I match my tutoring style to the student's goals, current level, personality, and learning style. Everyone learns differently, and has different strengths and struggles, but my goal is always to deepen understanding and build confidence. I am very patient, and have worked with a wide range of students in a number of difficult subjects.
As a student I enjoyed developing my own study and organizational skills, so now it is rewarding for me to pass along this knowledge and keep those skills sharp. Tutoring is also personally rewarding because it allows me to grow as a teacher -- I am always trying out new ways of demonstrating complex concepts.

Rose is an amazing young lady, she is a good match with my middle school aged granddaughter. Offering her ability to break down math problems for a simpler understanding. She is outstanding and is modest in her own accomplishments.

FAQs
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It is very important to not treat every tutoring session with the same "formula." Just as everyone learns differently, students also are unique in their motivation, interest, goals, time commitment, focus, frustration, energy, and desire to lead or be led. The first few sessions are critical in determining how to balance each of these needs and how to present information in a way that they will understand.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I mainly work with high school and college students, as well as students young as 12 and adults preparing for the MCAT or GRE. I have experience helping struggling students who are not particularly interested in math and science, and can lead and encourage them appropriately. I also work with students who prefer to guide the session themselves, who bring specific questions and topics for each meeting.
