He built and installed a new Murphy Bed for us. I was impressed with his focus on detail, speed and thoroughness. When faced with a challenge on mounting the bed to a concrete wall, he created some creative solutions to solve the issue. Highly recommend Trent.

Overall, I am very happy with Tim's quality of work. My only suggestion would be to improve communication: for example, the work involved some drilling into a concrete wall and there was metal residue left on a thick carpet from screws that I was not anticipating. Having a baby who crawls everywhere adds more complexity to the issue because not all of them was possible to clean with a vacuum cleaner. Both me and my husband had to use the magnet to actually go through the whole area on our knees to capture all the little pieces. This is was definitely a challenge. However given the reasonably prices quality service, I am still willing to give 4 stars.

John worked with me on renovating my rental house. Fantastic work that was done quickly and within our budget. It was nearly a whole house renovation - painting, refinishing the wood floors, complete bathroom renovation, replacing some doors and some other smaller things. I was losing faith in contractors who stood me up or never showed... John's work is top notch, end to end. And he was in touch constantly, even sending progress pictures, which I absolutely appreciated! We will definitely be coming to him again for work on our other homes.

Renaissance did an amazing job on my den. I originally hired them to mount a tv and ended up having him paint 2 rooms as well. They were on time, very responsive and knowledgeable. I had another contractor install a cable outlet and electrical outlet above my fireplace to make the mounting of my tv easy. However that contractor didn't do an efficient job and when Antonio mounted the tv both outlets were showing. It is very important to me that only the tv be visible after mounting. Antonio assured me that he would not only hide the cable box and cords but would fix the other contractors work as well. I was able to relax and everything was taken care of to my specifications. They went above and beyond to ensure that my needs were met and I was satisfied with the job. I would recommend them as well as use them again for other home improvement projects.

Saw good reviews; Contacted Marvin to set up an estimate and was pleased with the price. From initial contact to job completion, was very fast, only 2-3 weeks which included evaluation, time to gather materials and set a construction date and get the job done. Marvin and his crew are true professionals, knowledgeable, polite, and skilled. Marvin even did a little extra work for me that was not included in the initial estimate. Now I'm not saying he did it for free, rather, the extra work i wanted done was doable and not a hard task for his crew so he did me a favor. I will definitly contact him for my next job.

The job involved adding new wood to a 60 year old floor where walls had been removed and then sanding and refinishing the new wood and the old to create a seamless appearance. In addition, there were deep "pet" stains in two areas. The finished job was amazing. An untrained eye would never have distinguished between old and new and the stains were completely gone. Other floor contractors had told us that the stains would not go away completely. As for Crafted Hardwood Floors, LLC , they were a pleasure to deal with from the beginning. The estimator arrived on time as did the install crew. Their price was very fair and much better than 2 other. They replaced a contractor who was hired but then had not shown up after promising to appear on 3 different occasions. The no show threatened the move in date but we were fortunate to find Crafted Hardwood Floors. One of the best companies we have ever dealt with. /. Jay & Laura Schwartz

My family is extremely pleased with Vintage Floors and Stairs. Arnold and his assistant replaced our floating staircases. The steps were carpeted and the wood underneath was builders grade. We did not want to go the carpet route. Arnold offered a creative solution to replace each step with new hardwood and brackets. The end result is beautiful and Arnold is a true professional and craftsman. We are so glad we contracted with him. We initially found Vintage through a web search. We had been looking for months for a contractor but were not comfortable with any we had previously contacted. Arnold and his co-worker are timely, informative, neat, and hardworking. We highly recommend Vintage and will have them back to our house for future projects.

Naser arrived 5 minutes early, quickly confirmed his initial bid based on photos, and was ready to immediately do the work. Three different projects involving concrete replacement under my front door, damaged trim on a door, and two leaking pipes. Outstanding work. Very pleased and I would hire him again for any household project!

Months ago, I looked for someone to do a small painting project on Thumbtack. And I ended up with a brand new home. Christian, Jessica, Hector and the rest of the team at 5th Gen Group honestly do miracles. We own a 100+ year old row home in Washington DC and we've had problems ever since we moved in five years ago. After dealing with four different contractors that left me unsatisfied, I tried Thumbtack (at that time, new in the DC area). Christian came out to do an estimate and I was impressed by him from the get go - as a woman, I hate when contractors act like I'm stupid or uninformed. Christian never did that, and he answered all my questions respectfully and thoroughly and would defer to my wishes. We initially contracted for a gut remodel of our ancient kitchen and leaking bathroom. Christian's professional opinion was heavily appreciated as well as his vision - he instantly "got" the feel of a space and spent a lot of time listening to not only what we wanted, but how we would use the space and what we planned for the house in the future. Of course, the best laid plans always go awry - we knew our house had a few "handyman specials" but once Christian opened up the floor in the kitchen, we realized we were really in for it. Down there was a hidden mess of rotting wires, missing piping, garbage from the last renovations, and rotted-out beams. Overnight, our budget doubled. I personally wanted to die. But Christian calmly lead us through the process, helped us try to salvage our murdered budget, and focused on explaining the trade-off in home values. We ended up with an additional half bath downstairs (because really, what was another 5K at that point?), brand new kitchen (with a small bar!) a brand new stairwell and relocated laundry room, and a brand new bathroom with a shower (after 5 years of an ancient leaking cast iron tub). Christian isn't completely perfect - he's totally a perfectionist, and if you are one too, be prepared for some long conversations. There is an epic texting exchange over the bathroom tile that I may print out just to see how long it really was. But that's about the only thing. Also, for the other ladies on here- I always hate opening my home to someone because I have had bad experiences with contractors who were, at best, creepy. Christian and Hector were completely professional, and they really went the extra mile to make sure I always knew who would be in the house, when they would arrive, and how to reach both of them. Christian also has a lot of loyalty and integrity toward his clients - he is always fair, both in pricing and in the treatment of your home. He broke a small appliance - the only reason I knew was because he called me when he was purchasing an (upgraded) replacement on his own dime. All renovations are hard projects, long projects, and frequently frustrating. There was definitely a day when I wanted to kill Christian for sending me out to two different quarries in far out Virginia right around rush around. But when I stepped into my home for the first time, I couldn't stop smiling. And when we finally scrape together the budget for a third floor extension, I know exactly who I am calling.

Learned about Curtis' company through work he did for a neighbor who was extremely satisfied with his work. They allowed us to see the work he'd done on their master bath and it looked great. We had our townhouse kitchen renovated by them. Curtis provided a very comprehensive estimate which detailed some items we hadn't considered such as daily clean-up, the payment schedule, and how receipts would be handled for materials purchases. His estimate came in at the middle of 4 estimates we received for tear-down of the original kitchen, new cabinet installation, tile floors and backsplash with some electrical and plumbing thrown in. He was able to accommodate an earlier start date when the cabinets we ordered were available earlier then expected by 2 weeks. He and his 2 assistants worked efficiently and more importantly they took care when doing the demo (and throughout the project) to protect the hallway floors and other areas of the house from dust, dirt and debris. They worked very efficiently and by the end of the 2nd day were starting on laying the tile floor. Cabinet installation went smoothly and he was kind enough to point out a couple items which we needed to report back to the cabinet makers regarding some bowing. Overall the project took approximately 9 business days from start to finish with a few small visits to finish up hardware, trim and reinstallation of the dishwasher once the counters and sink folks (separate company) finished their piece. His 2 assistants were equally pleasant and made us feel comfortable so we could ask questions as needed. We plan to use Curtis' company Oddjobs.pro again for upcoming bathroom renovations and some other work we need done.

Manuel and his team did a great job of getting our townhouse move-in ready including building a pantry, installing hardwood, refinishing hardwood in another area, patching drywall, painting, and replacing electrical outlets and an old fuse box. Manuel kept me informed of how the job was going via text while I was at work, and was very careful to make sure everything was as we wanted it. His prices were extremely reasonable and he and his team worked quickly so that we could move in on time.

After heavy rains came through our area, I found water leaking into my recently-finished basement. The water was isolated to one corner in the basement. Mr. Rahman came out the next day and quickly assessed the situation and accurately diagnosed the problem. Not only that, his solution was the most time and cost efficient compared to other contractors I consulted before finding Specialty Services, saving us from spending literally thousands of dollars. He and his nephew also repaired uneven steps and cracks, breathing life back into our walkway -- again, with a much more cost-effective solution than others. If you want an honest assessment of your situation and some good quality tradesmanship, then don't hesitate to hire Specialty Services. You won't be disappointed!

Ramon did a superb job. He was extremely responsive and came to look at my house and gave me the quote the very next day after I posted on Thumbtack. He was extremely kind and detail-oriented and he clearly puts the customer's satisfaction first in all his work. He wanted to make sure I was getting just what I wanted. After we negotiated the scope of work of bit, he gave me an extremely fair price. He was able to start right away and was really easy to work with. He checked in about the direction of the project when it was necessary, but not when it wasn't, and he was almost always around to answer any questions I had. He did a very thorough a detailed job completely remaking my row-home back yard, with all new concrete and a new wood deck. I was extremely pleased.

Jeff and Sandy at Olde Port worked with me and the bank on a major remodel of our foreclosed house, we had almost everything under the sun renovated or replaced on this house (See list below). They started work the day after we closed and did not stop until the job was done and done to my satisfaction (which is a pretty hard achievement). Not only did they make quick work, they did everything right the first time and at a great price. They constantly communicated with me throughout this process and I always knew when they were going to be at my house. Their workers were polite, professional, and on-time; they even asked before using the restroom or going into another part of the house to check on things. Our house was built in 1984 and just about everthing including the water heater was from the 80s. We moved in the same day our roof was getting replaced and the workers didn't miss a beat, they still finished the entire roof in 1 day. Olde Port always answered my questions and did not try to up-sell me, they recommened and gave me the products I needed. They even handled our permits needed for the electrical and plumbing work. I would highly recommend this contractor for any job big or small. Major remodel - New roof New seamless gutters New skylight window Replaced all windows in the house with high energy efficient windows Concrete repairs including a new front step New trench drains Repaired trim around garage doors and painted garage doors New doors Landscaping - Removed trees away from house Plumbing - new water heater, fixed toilet leaks Electrical - repaired and replaced light fixtures, switches and outlets

Definitely would recommend. Julio's quote was the lowest we got from contractors, and he had the work done (concrete removal) in a day, whereas other contractors said it could take 2-3 days.

We recently had a complete kitchen remodel and are very happy with the results. We hired Dennis Gillooly of Trimline Construction as the general contractor. We were on a very tight budget and after pricing the options from a local cabinet supplier, Dennis suggested we look at using Ready to Assemble cabinets instead. He explained the various options and helped us with the design, layout, and ordering of these cabinets from an east coast supplier. This saved us more than 50% vs the original quoted cost from the local supplier! We got really nice cabinets at a fraction of the cost. Dennis put these cabinets together, installed them, helped us pick the perfect handles, installed those as well, and completed all the trim work to make the finished job look wonderful. We love our new kitchen – it looks great! We also previously used Dennis Gillooly to finish our 1,200 sq foot basement. Dennis took care of managing everything including the design, framing, drywall, a full bathroom, kitchenette/bar area, a ton of storage closets including a cedar closet and custom shelving, the big recreation room, enclosed office space, new French doors, cutting in new windows in our concrete walls, and he personally installed 1,200 sq feet of engineered wood flooring throughout. We painted the basement ourselves in order to save money and found Dennis very willing to work with us to make such a large project both affordable but also exactly what we wanted.
