Introduction: I love math, and by the end of our sessions, every one of my students loves it too (or at least hates it a little less!). I want to do more than just teach the material; I want to inspire my students to have confidence in themselves and their abilities. In SAT prep, our lesson plan is completely unique. We have flipped the SAT classroom! This is SAT prep of the future. "Homework" is a short video with instructions about a particular strategy. "Class" is about practicing - learning how and when to use the strategy. This lets students and teachers focus on the most important part of the SAT - getting the questions right! I love working with students. One of my recent students started with a 29% in his precalculus class. Within two months, he scored a 98% on a quiz in class. Not only did he understand the material better, but he was more confident in his classes. He's on track to take the SAT subject test in Math 2, and to get into a great college. Not every student improves this quickly, but each one of my students learns the importance of math, and how to start improving.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Most of my students come to me for help in two subjects: the SAT test and precalculus. SAT prep is either a 16 or 24 hour package. For precalc, I would generally meet with the student once or twice a week. Precalc is actually my favorite class to teach (although it was my least favorite in high school!). I think this is the class where math really starts coming together. It requires the use of chapters from algebra, geometry, and algebra 2 - and, most importantly, it starts setting students up for using math in the real world!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Ask about previous clients - tutors should be able to provide you with specific information about each one of their students. If you ask me about a student, I can tell you more than just her grades - I know what sports she plays, her favorite movie, and her hopes and dreams for the future.
