FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My mother was an executive secretary, for many years and she would hire my brother and I during the summers to help her. She became a stickler about grammar. Not only did she correct us verbally, all our letters we sent her were corrected in red ink! I watched her join the State Department Foreign Service after my Dad died. They sent her to Paris, France for her first posting. After a few months, she got lonely and asked if I'd like to join her as long as I got a job quickly. The American Embassy hired me immediately. I was assigned to be the Communications Unit for the Visa Section. I stayed there for eighteen months before I left for Florida. I finished my degree in English/Writing and immediately got officially hired as a Foreign Service secretary. After living in luxurious Paris, I wanted the hardest post in Africa, which was Khartoum, Sudan. It was desert country. I spent two years there and retired from Sudan with plethora of stories that I lived through.
