FAQs
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I have recently been retained by a world renowned author and international business consultant as her exclusive photographer, for her books and public relations. I met her many years ago and recently she contacted me about getting together to catch up. During our talk at a local Starbucks, she told me she had seen my website and asked if I would be interested in doing some work for her. Long story short, we did a session in February and my portraits of her will grace the cover of her newest book being released in May. She also stated that she needs some more pictures for public relations. That session is now scheduled for September. The opportunity to reconnect with an old friend through my work is amazing and being able to enhance both of our professional needs is the topping on the cake.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
You may love the work someone has done in the past, they may have a very exclusive clientele, and they may be very well known in your area. But, do you feel comfortable with them? Capturing someones image is very personal. You should get know this person before you allow them to capture your image or even the image of a product you take great pride in. If that comfort level is not there, no matter how many shots they take, it won't be you. Talk with them, get to know them, just as the photographer should be trying to get to know you. If you don't feel that comfort, you may be happier going else where.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
In today's world everyone has access to digital cameras, and there are many that have hung a shingle on their door as a professional photographer. Unfortunately, it takes much more to actually do the work than clicking the shutter. It's not just the technical side but the personal side of working with people and realizing exactly what they are looking for and how to capture their personality, their dreams. It takes a person that can listen and hear what that person is saying. Then and only then can you start clicking the shutter.
