Introduction: Founded in 1996, Backyard Ponds builds, repairs and maintains decorative ponds from its Rockville headquarters. We are and have always been a woman-owned business. We provide free estimates for work in our territory. Our services include: designing and installing new and refurbished ponds; repair or replacements for pumps, liners, skimmers, tubing, filters, lighting, aquatic plants, and rock. We diagnose and repair leaks, patch liners, and rebuild waterfalls. We routinely maintain ponds, including cleanings, algae control, water changes, touch-ups, rock realignment, plant trimming and fertilization. We offer a weekly/monthly maintenance plan that will keep your pond sparkling year-round. We have a winterization service that includes blowing out your filtration system, netting ponds and use of de-icers. We carry a wide variety of pond supplies, including plants, fish food, lighting and transformers, pumps, skimmers, rock, filters, pump defenders, de-chlorinators, koi castles, and nets. We do not sell koi or goldfish but sometimes have free fish from overstocked customers that we help re-home. We look forward to meeting you and any pond needs you may have.

Backyard Ponds did a great job of cleaning our pond. They pumped out years of muck and debris and power washed all the rocks. They rearranged all the rocks and cleaned our pump which made a huge difference in the functionality of our waterfall. They also installed lights and a transformer so the pond lights up at night. I’ll definitely be going back to them for routine maintenance and I highly recommend them for anyone with a pond.

Details: Outdoors • Pond • Waterfall • Water feature has a leak • Water is dirty/has algae • Spring maintenance - clean-out as weather gets warmer • Summer maintenance - cleaning for the warmest months

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Backyard Ponds charges customers for time and materials. We are happy to provide a quote based on the customer's requirements. Generally, all we need is a picture of your pond and a brief phone conversation to turn around a quick quotation. Please feel free to email or call us.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We provide an estimate based on the work required. If a visit is necessary, we will do that, although we generally provide estimates based on photos and requirements. We have a simple one-page agreement for our services for all customers. We bill you after the work is performed. You do not have to be present while work is performed, but we will need access to the pond and have power and water available.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

We are always willing to discuss pond issues with customers and potential customers. We can also provide a free pond care guide in PDF form.
