I explained that I had made a nontaxable withdrawal from my Roth TSP account but since I did not receive a 1099, I did not report it. Two years after the withdrawal, I received a notice indicating I owed over $93k in taxes, penalties and fees.After corresponding with the IRS twice and providing absolute proof the withdrawal was tax-free, I received a third notice indicating I did not provide sufficient proof. I contacted three different law firms. One wanted a flat-rate of $4,500 and the other one wanted a much higher retainer.I explained to all three law firms that I had provided absolute proof it was a nontaxable withdrawal and it should be a simple case.
