I cannot convey how truly disappointed I was with the overall level of service I received from Extreme Moving Helpers. From the movers up to Kirby (the purposed “owner/manager”), I have never received such poor service in my entire life. I would emphatically urge anyone who is looking for movers to look elsewhere. The phrase, “You get what you pay for” has never been truer and more apt than anything I have experienced. I could pay a person off the street $20 and get better service than what I got on 4/18/15. From the start, when I had to text the owner 10 minutes after agreed upon start time of 10am, I should have known and canceled then and there. For $140 for an expected 3 hours of moving I received the following: 1) Two movers dressed like they were hanging out at a skate park arriving in a vehicle barely making it to the location. 2) Excessive breaks. Talking about personal issues between moving an item and going back upstairs. 3) Rude behavior. Often arguing with my girlfriend and not requesting to use my bathroom. Foul language and disastrous appearance. Appearance including baggy pants, torn skate shoes, and poor hygiene. 4) Damaged furniture and walls. Gouges left in one wall and deep scratches left on two pieces of furniture. I have the pictures and can produce upon request. 5) Dropped box containing fragile porcelain and keepsakes. Luckily nothing broken. 6) Having to move, with the help of my girlfriend and a neighbor, several items including furniture as movers stood around. For each of these complaints, the only thing I got in return from Kirby was excuses and denials that this behavior was coming from EJ and Ethan. While the move was to begin at 10am, I was told that original movers had car issues and this second team would arrive at 12pm after finishing another job. I was then told 1pm. Then at 1:20, “any minute”. The movers didn’t show up until 1:50pm. At approximately 5:45pm the ordeal was finally over. Because of the latent amount of idle time and lack of effort I agreed to pay only 3 hours’ worth ($140). The effort produced from these two and the aloofness of the company’s owner, should have resulted in, at minimum, a $40 move. The disgracefulness of the service that I was provided was only worth the gas it took to get from Portland, Maine and back. At the end of the day, all Kirby could provide my girlfriend and I was excuses and guilt that his movers basically did the move for free. I am posting this review on Thumbtack.com, U-Haul, Yelp, and the Better Business Bureau. I am not doing this out of spite; I am doing this as a service to the community to know that they should spend a little bit more to hire professional movers.

I was looking for a mover for a short move. Probably about two hours worth of work since I had already boxed up everything and moved all of the furniture into my garage. The distance between the two places was about three quarters of a mile so I didn't see things taking more than two hours at most. I had a couple of heavy items (washer, dryer, television, and a heavy wall unit) but no living room or dining room furniture. Would be an easy job for two people. I found XTREME Movers on Craigslist on May 23. I called and spoke with Kirby (owner? manager?). He advised that he was driving and would call me back when he got in the office in half an hour. An hour and a half later he calls back and I told him that I would be needing two movers and a 17 foot truck for two hours on June 1, 2015 and asked what kind of availability he had. He said that would be no problem and said they could be there at 9:30 that morning. We discussed the price. It states that there is a $20 travel charge to cover cost to get from there to me. No problem. Cost per hour for two guys with a 15 foot truck is $85 per hour. Again, no problem. He mentioned that there was a cost per mile 60 cents? 70 cents? I don't remember. However this was not in the ad. He said would waive it for me since the distance moved was actually going to be less than a mile. However, caution to anyone else. They pride themselves on no hidden charges but this wasn't in ad. I explain that the job should be relatively simple for two guys since I already have everything packed and in the garage. Will be more or less like loading from a storage shed. Given that and the distance, should only take two hours. Then Kirby says, well that's fine, but we have a THREE hour MINIMUM. I said buy your ad doesn't say that? Why would you show prices in your example for two hours if you have a three hour minimum??? He said, well we will see. If I can schedule a job right after that, than I can charge you the two hour price, otherwise it will have to be the three price. I should have been suspicious that they were able to offer me such an early time on the first of the month (typically one of the busiest moving dates, also a day when many students are moving) and to not have any other moves scheduled? He said he would try to work with me on that. Anyway, he said that it was there policy to contact their clients the morning prior to the moving day as a courtesy just to make sure that there have been no plans. I thanked him and said I would speak with him then. The day before the move comes up and Kirby doesn't call that morning. Noon rolls around so I call him. Voice mail. I leave a message requesting a call back. I call two, three, five more times. Nothing. By this point, I'm just praying his phone is broken and they will show up the next morning as scheduled. I did e-mail as well. I call the next morning, voice mail again. And, oh, a note on the voice mail. It is not a business voice mail, it is an automated voice mail box. So, 9:30 comes and no movers, 10:00 nothing. I call one last time, voice mail. I check U-Haul and thankfully they have one truck available, but not until 3:00. So I ended up having to do the move myself. You all know how hard it is trying to find people help you move. DId you ever try doing it on a weekday last minute during working hours? Oh, and did I mention that it was pouring all day long? I thought perhaps something happened that prevented them from showing up or calling. As I said earlier, maybe phone broken, maybe truck broke down. Something. Today I go back to Craigslist and lo and behold, who has an ad for movers updated yesterday? You guessed it! XTreme Moving Helpers! Avoid these guys like the plague. What is truly sad is I saw the review posted previously about Kirby and how he treated these people but I figured I would give them another chance. A lot of times you cannot trust one review. Well, If this reaches one person, my job is done.

We hired these guys last year to help us get all of our stuff out of a storage unit and unto a truck. They were fast, decently priced and nothing was damaged or broken. I would definitely recommend them. I did notice a review that complained about their appearances and us of foul language. They are movers, not choir boys. They definitely were NOT rude to me or anyone else.
