I specialize in tutoring math, statistics, economics, and standardized test prep.
I focus on the learning experience by individualizing the instruction to match the student's distinct personality and learning style.
I earned a B.A. from Harvard in Economics and an M.B.A from Stanford. In addition to previous tutoring experience, I have worked as a trader for Goldman Sachs & in scouting analytics for the Oakland A's. I excel in test taking, earning a 1600 on the SAT and a 790 on the GMAT.
My goal as a tutor is not just to improve the student's performance, but also to help build their confidence and to foster an enjoyment of the subject matter. This not only improves results for the current course, but has far reaching benefits into the future.

Kate has been providing math tutoring to our ten-year-old who has missed quite a bit of math instruction at school due to various issues. Kate seems to be very good at figuring out what our daughter does and doesn't know, and helps her understand in a way that is calm and respectful with a little fun added in. Best of all, after the first session our daughter said "I like Kate because she showed me I DO understand a lot of math"--and we have had no complaints from her about adding an hour of math tutoring to her schedule. Kate also knows how to separate what procedures and vocabulary she needs to teach/explain in sessions versus what material our daughter needs to spend time practicing on her own.

Kate can solve and explain difficult math problems to my HS sophomore that my techie husband who majored in CS/EE can't answer. She is professional, prompt, patient and flexible with scheduling. I just wish we'd found her sooner.

I really enjoyed working with Kate to prepare for the GMAT! I started working with Kate after I had already been preparing for a couple of months but had been unable to hit the quant score that I needed. After meeting ~1x/week for 2 months, my overall score jumped from a 660 to a 710 and my quant score went up 6 points!
Kate knows all of the OG problems extremely well (she was able to easily recommend different problems for me to solve based on my areas of weakness), and I loved using the TestCrackers materials during our sessions. She is also really knowledgeable about different test-taking techniques and strategies to help you get to the answer easier and faster.
I would definitely recommend Kate as a GMAT tutor - she is supportive, easy to work with, and will help you meet your goal!
