FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Group psychotherapy is an option for you at a reduced fee from Individual. This includes the same quality of therapy; it is merely shared with a select few people! In the case of true financial need, a sliding scale fee can be considered.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
To get started, I offer a phone consultation, to answer any questions you may have, and for me to learn a bit about you and help you to understand what therapy has to offer you, and how we would go about it. We schedule your first appointment, which is often an hour and half - two hours. This is typically a longer session because we are both getting to know each other: I learn your history in detail, outline initial goals, and of course, begin the actual therapy. I want you to walk out feeling encouraged, with some new coping skills, and insight each and every time we meet!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have decades of education and training in numerous specializations, and continually keep on top of the latest research and findings, so that I am able to offer you the best in the field. During our sessions, I often share this information, as it pertains to your circumstances and needs. In other words, you are not only enjoying the therapy that you need, but also gaining education through me, take-home information that will help you right away. Education includes psychodynamic and analytic training, which means we look at patterns in your life, over time, and think about how those experiences may have affected you, according to those developmental stages, and what may have been going on in your conscious and unconscious processes. This can be powerfully healing and is especially, absolutely necessary for healing trauma. I have extensive work and success with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults, individuals, groups, couples, and families. If a divorce is involved, it is highly recommended each member seek counseling, to ease the passage through. Divorce mediation is another service I offer, and often collaborate with your attorneys to reduce your total cost of the divorce, and to consider what is in the best interest of the children. I have experience working with chronic illness and traumatic brain injury and offer a compassionate, learned approach to ease your adjustment and understanding of your "new normal".
