With its state-of-the-art, reality-based systems, the Tactical Self Defense (TSD) provides personal protection solutions for everyone in society whether you are a civilian, police officer, security specialist or soldier. TSD is an eclectic self-defense system that combines karate, wrestling, judo, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, modern arnis and boxing. Commando Krav Maga is also offered. I received a few self-defense lessons from this vendor. Style: Jeet Kune Do (JKD) Pros: Brian, my instructor, was incredibly knowledgeable about this style and was excited to teach it. He worked within my limitations - I am not very flexible or coordinated, so he tailored his approach to work within my limits. That's what JKD is about: creating a system that works for each individual. Brian was also a compassionate teacher. He always asked permission before he went into a demonstration, meaning he never laid a hand on me without my consent. At no point did I feel intimidated or threatened, which has not always been my experience in studying other martial art styles. He was also diligent in assigning me homework so that, when we weren't working together, I had plenty to practice so we could make more progress in our next section. His prices per lesson were also incredibly fair. Cons: With Brian's excitement and interest in the style came a little impatience. He's so eager to teach that he occasionally overloaded me with information. I'm sure if I had said as much to him, he would have understood and slowed down. But his energy is contagious, and I wanted to learn just as much as he wanted to teach. For anyone else working with Brian, be sure to speak up if he's going too fast, and I'd be willing to be he'd understand. As I said, JKD is all about flexibility, meaning the style can be adapted for your needs.

Learn how to defend yourself and protect your loved ones against predators and violent attacks! Black Belt Defense and Michigan Handgun Training are much more than just another concealed pistol license (CPL and/or CCW) and self-defense course. Rather than focus solely on the use of handguns for safety, we emphasize the necessity of using a comprehensive approach for personal and home defense. You will receive a professional firearms training by a certified NRA instructor and martial arts expert. Instruction includes the mastery of mental, emotional, and verbal skills, as well as an introduction to self-defense techniques, and finally, the use of deadly force, if necessary. Weekend and evening classes are now available at our Lake Orion/Auburn Hills CCW training facility! Please see the course calendar for available times and dates! We train martial arts for both self-defense and sport. Our kenpo karate curriculum works in self-defense situations for a variety of scenarios, for both civilians and those employed in the military and law enforcement fields.
