I hired Jamilah to take some photos of me to promote my music (found at https://soundcloud.com/raneraps). We had a morning photoshoot over a course of a few hours at her home studio as well as a nearby park. Since the start of the shoot, she put me at ease and made me feel more than welcome in her home. She offered to help me style my looks, steam my clothing, made me some tasty tea, and even introduced me to some of her new favorite music! I didn't feel awkward or like "just a client" per say. I truly felt welcome and this allowed me to be myself in the photoshoot because rather than her giving me instructions from behind a lens for the shoot, I was able to talk and genuinely connect with her, allowing for the shots to be more authentic and less posed, as well as give her insight into who I am as a person and allow her to use her expertise to capture my personality within the frame. I highly recommend that you choose to have Jamilah snap your photos! She is a wonderful person, punctual, engaging, and most of all, professional without any pretentiousness.
