We purchased our home 11 months ago and everything passed inspection. We haven’t used the fireplace since we moved in. I hired Chimnee to clean the fireplace, but they snake a camera up there and say I need $3200 worth of repairs (i.e. new chimney liner and outside work). I told him I’m getting another opinion from a licensed chimney inspector. Update: I had two separate fireplace inspections done by different companies. They both agreed that the wood burning fireplace is in good working condition (I have both written report) and that the cost to make some outside repairs with the company we are hiring, is no more than $500. No new chimney liner was needed. Shame on Chimnee Cricket for telling us we needed one when 2 outside inspections said it was fine.
