Communication with the main office was timely and professional; they willingly coordinated timeframes with other contractors (drywall and painters). Matt (and Will) was prompt, professional, friendly, kept me informed on progress, and went over and above to make the job come out beautifully. Matt unexpectedly walked in to needing to remove concrete from the entryway and build up from the subfloor to match the level of rest of the room. The job was still finished on time and minimally over budget - however, I was made aware of that within the first 5 min of the project; I was also contacted by the main office that same day to explain that there would be a minor upcharge and the reason for it. I can not imagine being any happier with the result. My husband was not happy to have 'lost' the hardwood vs. carpet discussion; but he is as thrilled as I am eith the end result. I would recommend Functional Floors - especially Matt - to family, friends, strangers, anyone who wants a great project outcome!

We hired Functional Floors after meeting Chris, the owner, at the Novi Home Show and he assured us that our pre-finished Brazilian Cherry wood floors could be refinished (we had been previously told that pre-finished floors are very difficult to refinish, if at all). Matt and his crew (Chris and Chris and another gentleman who helped out for one day) were very professional and pleasant. They showed up at the appointed date/time and did a beautiful job on our floors. After they began working, they encountered an unexpected problem which caused a huge amount of dust to spread all over the house, covering all our walls. We contacted the office and they immediately agreed to assist us by contracting a cleaning company, Maid Green, to clean the walls, some being 19 ft. high. This was handled professionally and with no hesitation by the office manager, Sandra. We are also very happy with Maid Green. Nelson Ayala spent the afternoon meticulously cleaning our walls. He even helped us move a couple of pieces of heavy furniture! Dealing with these two companies was a pleasure, something that unfortunately doesnt happen often these days. We recommend both companies with no hesitation.
