FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer a free 15-minute phone or video call to discuss the problem you need fixed. There is no cost or obligation for the 15-minute call. If we decide on the call to work together, I charge a flat $150, which covers the first 1.5 hours on-site and travel to and from your location. I show up with my van to fix the problem. If I need parts, I get those. If I arrive and the problem is more extensive than what was first discussed on the 15-minute call, I will give you a flat rate price range since most problems have variables that may be unseen until I get deeper into the problem. Depending on my schedule, I may still be able to complete the problem fixed in the same day. If the problem can be fixed in 1.5 hours, there is no additional charge. If the problem is much bigger, I will apply the $150 to that project. I will give you a flat rate budget range and agree on that before any other work is completed. We will schedule the work and take a deposit on the larger project. Why $150? I have owned many businesses, and I have spent a lot of time in the past providing free estimates. Even though most Contractors advertise estimates as "Free", they really are not. You either pay for that time in the project when it is completed or you pay for it with a lack of call back or response because the Contractor is so busy running around. I love my work and my customers who value an honest professional who can do most any home improvement project without the hassle.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Step 1 - Introductory call, make sure I can help you, 15 minutes. Step 2 - I will propose a rough budget range. Larger projects may take a bit more time, if so, we reschedule a time to discuss the budget. Step 3 - If the budget is agreeable, we will schedule a date and proposed time to complete the project. Step 4 - I show up at the date and time promised and complete the job. Any surprises or factors that change the amount of time or materials will stop the project and I will show you the issue and discuss the next steps. Step 5 - 50% deposit is required on most projects before work begins. Final payment at the time of completion of the work, with no exceptions. I prefer cash or check. If you prefer to use a credit card, I charge a 3% service fee.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My wife tells me I am an interesting combination of white-collar and blue-collar! My formal education includes Associates, Bachelors and Masters of Business Administration. This taught me the importance of professionalism, how to communicate and how to manage a business at a high level. But I also have been working with my Dad for more than 40+ years. He's a Master Electrician, Home Builder, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Finish carpentry, and we have likely done it over the past few decades. We never hired anyone to do work for my family growing up, we built several homes, remodeled several, and flipped two houses. I have found an opportunity where the combination of professionalism paired with an ability to fix most anything around the home is both highly valued and in high demand.
