This reviews is long overdue since the work Karl did for me was almost a year ago. Karl came to give me a quote on painting, but after learning more about him and his skills, I ended up hiring him for a master bathroom and master bedroom remodel job. He was thorough in his analysis of what I was looking for and provided an itemized quote for the job. The price was fair for the work to be completed. After deciding to go forward, Karl had a detailed contract for us to sign which made me feel comfortable that both of us would hold our end of the deal and was professionally what I was expecting from a contractor. If anyone has worked with contractors before, you know that the jobs usually never go according to plan and the cost and time involved increase. Yes, the cost increased some and time increased some but it was all because of add-ons I wanted and changes made from original quote. The time was only 2-3 weeks longer than originally anticipated because of these changes and add-ons I had. Someone was there just about every day and I could see the progress being made. Communication was great. If he was unsure about my preference on something, he would ask. He would update me on where he was at on a regular basis. I was anxious about the job being completed on time because I was pregnant and close to my due date and I felt he was very cognizant of that fact. We worked during the day and let him and his crew use a lockbox to come in while we were gone. I felt comfortable leaving him and his team in the house while we were gone and there were no issues with privacy or things being out of place or missing. Soon after the job was complete, there was a leak in the mainfloor bathroom from the master bath upstairs. I was worried that there was some faulty work and having to call him about it, but he came over the next day and we figured out that there was an issue with the plumbing on the shower handle that his plumber was able to fix right away. We haven't had an issue since. I appreciated his quick reaction time and attentiveness to resolve the issue. We love our master bedroom, new walk in closet, and new master bath that Karl worked on. Very happy with the result.

I graduated from the Detroit Carpenters Apprenticeship and recieved my Journeyman's Certificate in 2009
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I didn't want to go to college and couldn't imagine working a desk job so I went through trade school and began working with my hands.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Do some research on the work to be done and then ask a few questions to the contractor, see if he knows what he is talking about. Look for examples of his work, the work can speak for itself. References are always good too.
