FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My fees are based on the tax reporting forms required for each client's tax situation. There are too many to list here. I can make a quote based on the previous year's tax return, assuming nothing has changed in the intervening year.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I meet with them and look over their documents and discuss their tax situation. Next, I work on the return and contact them when it is completed or if I need additional information. Once the return is completed, I contact the client and give them the preparation fee and discuss filing instructions and how they want delivery of their papers. I meet my clients in their homes, in restaurants, in my accounting firm's office...pretty much wherever it is convenient for my clients. I have a flexible schedule so I try to work with my client's needs.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Initially, I took a 16 week basic training class offered by H&R Block and passed their final exam. I also passed the IRS Registered Tax Preparer Program exam while it was required. This test has since been replaced by annual continuing education requirements. I usually take my training from the MSU Income Tax School. I am diligent about being up to date each year so that I am listed on the IRS Registry of qualified income tax preparers.
