I was greeted with optimistic energy immediately from Alex. He was very helpful in making me feel comfortable with my guitar. He started teaching me the basics in a way I could even relate too. ( Having no prior background with the guitar) I have developed a strong desire to want to continue to practice and improve, largely in part, due to Alex's passion for music, as well as teaching. I am more than satisfied with my decision to hire Alex as my guitar instructor.

Wow, the Dap Squad is amazing!!! I am terrible about following up on anything, I have a million excuses but I am making a point of sharing our experience because these guys made a regular wedding an event to remember. Jason made the experience easy and fun. He was attentive, thoughtful and mindful. The band was explosive from the first note to the last and kept blowing our mind all night. I sat back and laughed as the groomsmen all stood in amazement studying the guitarist as they drooled. These guys are world class musicians that honestly shouldn't be playing weddings, they should be on a national tour or something, but boy are we lucky they are available. Look, grab your cake, your venue, your flowers, bla bla.. Most services do the same thing and you're shopping for price right.... but the band is WORTH your time and money to get right. We checked out quite a few bands and were with our best friends when they made a mistake with his wedding band. We went and saw a showcase for a different band and watched as completely different musicians showed up to his wedding. We watched as their band literally shook hands on stage as they introduced each other before phoning in the rest of their night.... what a mistake.... DON'T MAKE HIS MISTAKE.. HIRE THE DAP SQUAD.. THESE GUYS ARE REHEARSED, TIGHT AND UNFORGETTABLE!!! Best wedding vendor choice we made. Thousands of dollars spent and we could have done the wedding in my garage and with this band it would have been an amazing wedding!!! HIRE THIS BAND it will be the best decision you make.. I promise!!

Musicians4Musicians LLP performed at my wedding at the Chanhasssen Dinner Theatre on June 20, 2015 and provided for us an atmosphere of fun, love and just plain great entertainment. I hired them before even meeting them in person because I could tell by their online videos that they were the best soul band in town. They were everything I expected and more. If you want real talent at your wedding, hire this band!! Also, very affordable!!

I have listened to, been in production with, and performed with Greg several times for over 10 years. He has played, written, scored, transposed, adapted, and collaborated to create exactly what was needed for each event, show, and gathering. As a pianist and guitarist he seems a bottomless well of ability and genre capability; he can rock Bon Jovi and then perform an Arvo Pärt piece that will bring you to tears. Pop, classical, jazz, funk, modern, quiet, loud, solo, ensemble, and more. Greg is talented, experienced, collaborative, and a pleasure to work with and to listen to.

Tim Price was a valued member of our band for over 10 years. His creativity, work ethic and professionalism was always displayed at the highest level. My two favorite things about Tim are his entertaining stage presence and his willingness to be a team player at all times. In addition to these qualities, Tim is a good Christian and a great guy! He comes with my highest recommendation. Paul Shane Banks & Shane Atlanta, GA

Rockitman was the entertainment at my wedding, and it was an absolute blast! Jon entertained young and old alike, and the dance floor was going all night! He was funny, engaging, and super easy to work with. You pay a bit more for live music than a DJ, but the quality and professionalism Rockitman delivers is far and away better than any DJ, and unlike most live bands, Rockitman is able to customize the show based on requests. I would hire them again in a heartbeat for corporate parties or any kind of event, and I’d recommend them to anyone!

BW&M will be the highlight of your party or event. Besides being phenomenal musicians, they are great people and easy to work with. Lots of bands can play great covers, but this band is stacked with 3 amazing vocalists that have a ton of energy. Great for weddings, concerts, parties, etc.

I wanted to play bass in a band, and had some previous knowledge of piano. I contacted Hugh about lessons, and we worked from there, bringing me from essentially ground zero to now, where I'm gigging with a group on a regular basis. Hugh also invited me to see him perform with his group, Miss Fairchild, and it's obvious that he's a master of the instrument. It gives me a lot to look forward to, and to desire to work hard for. One of the best parts about studying with Hugh is that he is personable. A lot of music teachers, in my experience, can kind of have a weird vibe, but Hugh is funny and cool. I'd recommend him to anyone.

We were recently lucky enough to have the Neighborhood Trio play at our wedding, which was about 80 adults at the Bachelor Farmer. We didn't want a DJ or top 40 band, as we were aiming for more of a cool, lounge vibe where our guests could enjoy a drink and some music but still have a conversation. After all, many had flown across the country to celebrate and visit with us and each other ... We weren't sure how to go about searching for musicians to fit this bill, but with the Neighborhood Trio we stumbled into the perfect solution. Their music is awesome, and it set the perfect mood for an awesome party! Nothing against Journey covers, but if you are looking for a slightly more sophisticated option, look no further. As their website said, their music is "perfect with a dry martini" ...

We really enjoyed Mary as our children's piano teacher. Our daughter is a fluent piano player and uses her musical talent In a band every week. My sons received the musical training they needed to be proficient with drums. Mary is kind, gentle and encouraging. She is prepared for her lessons. We highly recommend her.

To use an acronym to describe Les Izmoore, I would say WTF! (Wonderfully Talented Ferpormers!!!) These guys were Led Zeppelin before there was a dirigible. And who's more popular...J.C., or the Beatles??? Neither, it's Les Izmoore by a long shot. It ain't even close. While you may never hear Lez Izmore and Eye Candy in the same sentence, these guys are all exceptional musicians and amazing performers. Unlike bands I've been in...these guys start and end at the same time. Incredible, right? I've always wondered why I couldn't do that! If you want a great band, at a great price, that is better than you could have hoped for...these guys are it. At some point, they'll have to change their name to Moore Izmoore. Cheers music fans...these guys will make your day!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

    • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
    • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
    • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.
