FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
On most occasions, a flat price is the best way to go. Some projects call for an hourly rate, though! For instance, if a project is going to require several iterations, or ongoing without a definitive set of deliverables, I'd suggest an hourly pricing system. The client will be invoiced at the end of each period (weekly, usually), and full-resolution or physical work will not be delivered until payment has been received. If a client approaches with me with a list of deliverables, I typically will figure out a flat project fee. When working with flat project fees, I'll usually request an advance of roughly 30% in order to cover base expenses while working, and to show that the client is serious about the project.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Convention staff, authors and private individuals are my primary client base. I'm looking to expand to more commercial/editorial work as well as video game design.
