Tony responded very quickly and presented a thorough and competitive bid. The day of the job, he and his team showed up promptly and quickly completed the job. In addition to clean up, they blew all the recently fallen leaves from the gutters all the way around while they were on the roof. Tony is very professional and friendly and I would recommend his Gold Leaf company for tree trimming services.

Great guys! My yard has two steep banks, with areas that are difficult to maneuver. But these professionals were able to ease my fears. The grass looks better than it has in years. They did a great job cutting, trimming, and blowing for a very reasonable cost. I highly recommend Augusta Greens.

We had the Picture Perfect crew over to our home in Eden Prairie to raise the canopy and trim dying branches for 3 mature oaks. The crew was professional, polite, did outstanding work in a timely manner, and did an exceptional job of clean up. They also took the time to answer my questions about the 3 trees, plus a few others. No damage was noted to my yard, landscaping, deck, or small trees that were directly under the trees they were trimming. And all of this for a reasonable price! I definitely know who I'm calling the next time I need assistance with my trees, and I would recommend them to anyone in need of tree trimming.

Did an good job cutting down 3 trees for me. Prices were great for the cutting, but brush removal and hauling away was expensive so I opted to do it myself. It sucked, but was well worth the hundreds of dollars I saved. No complaints from me, I would hire again.

Star and Otis with Oz Lawn Care are both very amazing! I needed immediate help because I haven’t touched my lawn/yard since Memorial Day. The weeds, bushes & grass were overgrown in every corner that it made it hard to access my garage. I literally reached out to Oz Lawn Care on Tuesday & they booked me on Friday evening to assess the damage. Star walked through every inch of my yard with me and explained to me what needed to be done and why. They both worked with me to develop a plan on how to revive my lawn and scheduled on going maintenance to prepare for the next season. After the initial assessment, Otis emailed me an itemized invoice. I knew exactly what I was paying for and the quote was more than reasonable. They completed the job on Saturday and I couldn’t be happier! Service provides: Re-edged overgrown grass, mowed and edge lawn, pulled weeds, removed and laid mulch, trimmed fire bushes, trimmed evergreens.

Our city hired PLT to take care of a large number of removals and tree trimming along our boulevards. They did a great job, were very quick to respond, got all work done ahead of schedule, and cleaned up quickly. The staff I worked with were friendly and knowledgeable. We have contracted with them to grind stumps for us and I am confident that we won't have any issues.

Phil did a great job trimming back my front bushes, they were very over grown when I moved in and really needed a lot of work. He has very fair pricing and is really knowledgeable about how to cut and where to cut them back.

I had Clear Cut Tree come out to trim 4 trees. Brian was an excellent communicator, we had to reschedule once due to weather, but he was proactive and punctual on the date we rescheduled for. Getting a bid from him was quick and easy. He did a great job, cleaned up and hauled any branches away. My yard looks great!

This guy is great. He does such a good job mowing, trimming and blowing all the grass off the driveway, road, and patio. He doesn't rush through it and always makes sure it's done right and looks good. Highly recommend. We just text him if the grass got long and he's over the next day!!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to have your lawn mowed?

Regular lawn maintenance can do wonders for your home’s curb appeal. Professional lawn care prices will vary based on the regional cost to do business and regional cost of labor, the size of your lawn, and any additional services you may desire such as edging or mulching. The national average for lawn mowing costs is $30-$50. Pros may charge an hourly rate, a flat rate or by the square foot (an acre contains 43,560 square feet). Square footage rates factor in the professional’s time, the use of their equipment, and the gas to operate the mower. Distance may also affect cost: If you live outside the company’s standard service range, you may pay an additional travel fee. Here are some examples of average prices for mowing and lawn maintenance:

  • Up to 8,000-square-foot property: $30 per week/$120 per month.
    • Bimonthly: $40 per service/$80 per month.
    • One time only: $45 per service.
      • Prices include mowing all turf grass areas; trimming grass away from fences, structures, trees, and lawn edges; and clearing or blowing all grass trimmings from driveways, sidewalks, curbs, etc.
  • Hourly rate: $25 per hour (including travel, equipment costs and labor).
  • Lot size:
    • Smaller lots in subdivisions: $35.
    • Half-acre lot: $50.
    • One-acre lot: $100.
