Introduction: My tutoring business developed from the ground up, with parents of students from class asking if I could tutor their other children. After a few years, enough people were asking for tutoring that I decided to pursue it as my full time job. I enjoy math and love to help people succeed with it. Here’s some info about me: I’m a licensed 5-12 math teacher in Minnesota. I have nearly 10 years of classroom teaching experience, and about 5 years of experience as a private tutor. I’m IB HL and SL certified. I have 5 years of experience teaching IB SL 1, IB HL 1, and IB HL 2. I’ve taught courses ranging from 8th grade math through Calculus 2. I graduated from St Olaf College and am currently pursuing my Masters in Math. I am almost finished with a Master's in Math from the University of North Alabama. I have a 2-year-old daughter (almost 3) and a 3-month-old daughter, and I stay home during the day to care for them. (I don’t have many Thumbtack reviews because most of my tutoring commitments come through word of mouth, and Thumbtack limits the number of reviews that come from outside of the app to 10.)

I have had two kids tutor with Andy over the past couple of years. He has been fantastic. Most recently, he taught my daughter an entire year of Geometry over a three month period so that she could test out of it at her private high school. She can now take pre-calculus next year as a high school sophomore. I would highly recommend Andy. He is easy to schedule with, has the ability to simplify complicated math concepts for the kids, and is a genuinely nice guy! Truly the best.

Andy is fantastic. Our 11th grade daughter has gained a lot of confidence since working with him, and her math grades have improved greatly. We use him for math tutoring and ACT prep. Recommend working with him 100%.

Our son really benefitted from working with Andy last year. Andy tutored him in Advanced Algebra and with only meeting once a week for 60 minutes, Andy was sufficiently able to teach and reinforce the needed material for my son to get A in the class. My son really liked working with Andy and I would definitely use Andy again in the future. (In fact we had him scheduled to tutor this year, but the math content this year is super easy and my son doesn't need a tutor). Thanks Andy!

Having Andy tutor my 11th grade son for the math portion of the PSAT was a great decision and money well spent. Andy tested my son and then designed a curriculum to strengthen his weak areas. Andy also sent me regular progress reports throughout the process. Midway through tutoring, my son took another practice test and scored roughly 100 points higher. I plan to use Andy again before my son takes the SAT next year.

I just finished my senior year in high school, and I am pleased to say it ended with an A in AP calc AB for the entire year (both semesters)! I am still waiting for my AP scores, but the practice we did in class put me between a 4 and 5. I know that this is so much because of Andy’s help. His one on one tutoring helped me break down particularly difficult concepts that were brushed over during school lessons. His flexibility helped make tutoring a natural part of my schedule; we even did a few sessions over Skype because of weather. All in all, it was a great experience. Next year, I will attend Yale, and I am grateful that Andy was able to get me there.
