Katie Tutors Math

Introduction: I tutor individuals and groups primarily in mathematics and Spanish, although I am able to tutor other subjects as well. I have a decade of tutoring experience and two years of teaching experience at a small high school where I taught high school math from algebra to AP Calculus. Through these experiences, I have learned how to help students understand subjects and work to achieve their goals. Learning how to do one problem isn't very helpful, but understanding the concepts and math behind that problem will allow students to conquer more challenging and complex material. I graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and International Peace Studies. This double major allowed me to take a challenging array of classes, and I am prepared to tutor students in a variety of subjects. In college, I spent two summers in Latin America studying Spanish as well as taking classes at Notre Dame at the 300-level. I am also able to tutor students in standardized test prep. I received a 35 on the ACT in high school, a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam and in the 99 percentile on the GRE. I have tutored elementary through college-level students, and I enjoy working with this variety of ages and abilities. I create a warm environment where the student is comfortable asking questions and feels free to make mistakes is paramount to my work. I help students who are struggling with homework, wanting to prepare for a test or looking for help in "learning how to learn" better. Below are the subjects that I specialize in tutoring.
