Introduction: What I like most about my job is telling the stories of people's lives. When someone watches a video that I create I want them to "feel" the video not just watch it. I want them to have an emotional reaction to it. I want their stories told.

Please accept our sincere endorsement and highest recommendation of Rich Bowring as a potential vendor for you. Our experience with him, in every facet, was nothing short of exemplary. My husband Walter and I were married October 30, 2010 at St. Peters Church in North St. Paul. Our reception was at the Historic Withrow Ballroom in Hugo. It was a countrywestern/Halloween Theme! We did a middle of the road wedding--not an elaborate wedding, but not a small one, either. We made all our own invitations, programs, favors, bouquets, etc. and cut many corners when we were able. So when we were approached by Rich to do our videography, late into our wedding planning and budgeting, it seemed like just another expense. We now say it was the best money someone could spend towards a wedding! When the cake is gone, the gifts are opened, and the tuxes returned what is left? The video! Your wedding day is such a blur and goes by so fast its helpful to have video to fill in the gaps in your memory of that big day! And an "amateur" video shot by family or friends in the back of the church is farrrrrrrrr from what you will receive with Rich filming! Rich brought a friend along who helped capture many important moments as well, so it was neat to get different angles of each aspect of our ceremony. You will find that Rich does not just take "any video." He spiffs things up! His creativeness and in-depth knowledge for editing and incorporating footage from 2 different video cameras that were filming different views of the same moment was amazing and truly breath-taking. Know he spent hours and hours and hours on our final DVD product. He may even be able to make you some "bonus" footage as he had us microphoned up before the ceremony and caught some of our funny conversation/nervousness/excitement/panic of 'do I have time to go to the bathroom?!' before actually walking down the aisle. haha. We had only met Rich a few times at extended family gatherings (he is my husband's 2nd cousin.) He came a few weeks before the wedding to scope out the space, meet the music director, etc. Throughout the entire process Rich and his friend were friendly, timely, thorough, professional in appearance as well as personality in interactions with us, our vendors, and our guests. They were very non-intrusive with their videotaping. We watch our wedding video more often than we look at our wedding photographs. I cry every time I see it. Photos do not accurately enough catch those emotional moments of tears, or the laughs, the sound of your grandparents voice or a child talking that you will enjoy listening to for years to come. The biggest is the emotional vow exchange he caught during our ceremony as he had a microphone attached to my husbands tie--it comes through very clear! We especially enjoy playing our best man speeches over and over and over again! Our only regret is that we did not have Rich film our entire reception! He divided our video into chapters: ceremony, speeches, 4 minute clip, etc. When we shared the events of our big day with family and friends we always showed the video before the photos! We had extra copies of our DVD made for family members. Rich gave us an email link to share our wedding videos with family and friends who were unable to make it to the wedding. They truly enjoyed this--said it truly portrayed a joyous day and made them feel like they had actually been in attendance! Many of our friends who were already married said they wished they had hired a videographer to do their wedding after seeing our video! (YOU can also see a copies of our videos here on Rich's website if you click on "view full profile" at the top of his page and scroll to the middle of the page to the youtube video.) It is a 4 minute wedding day recap that he made for us just days after our wedding. Very neat snapshot/sneakpeek of what was yet to come. Huge surprise for us! He choreographed it to our first dance song "Soulmate" country song by Josh Turner. So very personalized to our wedding day! Here is a link to it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=s8mnnkMrf_k Then, if you open this youtube video to a full page, you can also view "Annette and Walter Wedding Ceremony" on the far right, another chapter of our wedding Rich filmed for us. If you watch the last 2 minutes of the ceremony you will also see that Rich added a 2 min. "tease" video at the end with another of our favorite country songs: "One Boy, One Girl" by Collin Raye. Finally, here is a video of our first Dance. Again by Josh Turner Country Song "Soulmate" : http://www.rmmstudio.com/Video_Album/Pages/Walter_%26_Annette_first_dance.html Rich had offered to do a powerpoint photo presentation at our reception of our 2 families throughout the years, us growing up, etc. Unfortunately, we ran out of time and were unable to compile an album in time for him to do this, but I have no doubt this too would have been a great masterpiece. We highly recommend Rich not only because he is family but because he does a spectacular job! We guarantee you will not be disappointed with the final result. Please do not hesitate to ask Rich for our contact information if you have any more questions! Annette and Walter Licht, Jr., Woodbury, MN

I recently hired Richard Bowring to video my son's wedding and I was so impressed with him!!! Richard was hired several months before the wedding and after that he surprised me with his phone calls to check on the event, to get information so he could research the venue and the bride and groom as well. I didn't have to call to remind him, he was on the phone to me letting me know when he would be arriving and I loved that!! He called D.J.'s and church to check on where he could be and couldn't. The Day of the wedding he arrived early and had everything in place by wedding time. He worked well with the photographer and was so polite to all the wedding party. When we watched the video for the first time, my jaw dropped as I was totally amazed at all the details he had captured, things I didn't think anyone would ever noticed were captured by him. I loved his work and I loved how respectful and professional he was all day long. He is a very hard working videographer who is dedicated to the event he is covering and you can tell he puts his whole heart and soul into the finished product. I will be paying extra to get him to travel all the way to Nebraska to cover the remainder of my children's weddings, I wouldn't want any one else but the best and Richard Bowring is far more then the best, I recommend Richard Bowring to everyone who wants that special day or any occasion captured perfectly, He wont let you down, he truly makes his work a masterpiece. I am totally satisfied with the work he did, If you want the best book Richard Bowring!! I was so impressed I will be glad to answer questions any one has about him. Just Ask Richard for my number and I will be happy to verify anything . Thank you Susie Davis Nebraska

Richard was so easy to work with and accommadating. A week before the wedding, he came to our house and spoke with us about our wishes and anything extra we wanted in the video, such as getting shots of our guests. He also made the effort to see the venue as to be prepared for his camera angles. It started to rain on our outdoor wedding and he was patient and calm - more so than us!! The video showed every highlight of the event. The video was so great to watch as we, of course, didn't remember some of the little things that happened with being so nervous. You cannot beat his pricing and well worth the money. Richard does not do this for a "job", he loves telling the story of people's lives and sharing it with them. Vicki Davis

We hired Richard to be our videographer for our wedding. He did a FANTASTIC job. He was very prompt in answering all questions we had, and the day of went extremely smooth. He had several cameras, and an additional cameraman to get all the angles and footage possible. About a week after the wedding, we got the ceremony video, which was so amazing. We got everything else- footage from the speeches, first dance, reception, and our hilight video- no long after. It was exactly what we wanted. I can't recommend Richard enough. This is something my husband and I will watch over and over again... we have already watched the videos more times than I can count. It was an amazing investment that I am so happy we made. Richard is fantastic and I can't recommend him enough!

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I have a very wide array of clients. My client base is as broad as national news organizations to the couple next door. My skills include covering national events such as conventions or rallies as well as an intimate wedding. I have also created numerous documentaries including documentaries about nature, religion, and personal stories from families. I believe my wide knowledge of storytelling sets me apart from others in the industry.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

What I believe a customer/consumer should look for in hiring a video professional is their scope of knowledge in the field. How much experience do they have and can they perform until tight deadlines and pressure. Do they have a great grasp of what YOU, the consumer wants--not what we as video professionals think you want. A great video professional will talk you through every step of the process to make your experience a positive one. After all, it is your story, not ours.
