About
My studio is located in Richfield, MN. I offer in-studio and online lessons. I teach contemporary (jazz, blues, folk, pop, country, etc) and classical music. My specialties are jazz and improvisation.
My students are performing musicians, casual musicians, beginners, composers & songwriters. They sing, play piano, keyboard, acoustic guitar and banjo. Each of my students has a personal page on my website providing them with easy access to their lesson materials.
I have a unique, fun and effective way of teaching music. My teaching methods are heavily influenced by my time at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
I offer a family discount as well as several prepaid multi-lesson discounts.

Such a great teacher! I’ve started lessons later in life. Jim takes into account the reasons why you want to play, what music you like and creates sessions to tap into all of this. Such fun!

I purchased a 4 remote class package for my husband who has never played and listened in. Jim was late to class, talked about himself constantly during class time, played the piano himself far beyond what was necessary to convey a point, never let my husband get a word in edgewise, didn’t send him materials he said he would, and provided zero hands on instruction while Jon was playing. On this last lesson Jon did not touch the keys once. What a complete waste of money and time. This is the first time.
