- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Tuition at Blackbird's Music Store can be paid weekly, monthly, in sets of 6, or quarterly. The breakdown in cost is between $20 and $25 per half-hour lesson. For 45 minute lessons, add 50%.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Depends on the age of the student and their comfort level with their instrument. Sometimes we dive right into playing and sometimes we spend more time talking about the instrument and about music in general- whatever we need to do to both generate some excitement and get off on the right foot from a technical standpoint.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied classical violin with Jackie Bregman (Conservatory of St. Petersburg) into adulthood. I have since then graduated from SE Technical college, Redwing in Violin Repair and have been working in repair in addition to teaching for the last 12 years. I have also performed with and recorded with bands playing a variety of different genras. I have a young son studying music as well, which has been an invaluable experience in seeing what a parent can do to support their young musician. Between these disciplines, I can confidently say I know the violin inside and out!
