Tom was very quickly responsive and came out for an estimate for several projects we had around the house. You can just tell he knows what he’s doing and had some really good ideas about creative solutions to accomplishing our project completion within the budget we had available. Tom is super friendly, but professional. Usually I hide upstairs when people come over to do work in the house, but my husband and I found ourselves downstairs chatting away while he worked. It felt like having a friend doing the work- he even was nice to our annoying dogs who wouldn’t stop trying to “help” him. We ran into some unanticipated issues while he installed the flooring, but he stayed until midnight to complete the job. Tom is knowledgeable, adaptable, fair and operates with integrity- which can be hard to find in freelance handymen. No excuses, no fine print, no hidden or unreasonable costs. He just showed up, fixed our problems and I’m obsessed with our new flooring! Thanks Tom! Look forward to working with you in the future when something else breaks. (I couldn’t even get a picture without one of the aforementioned annoying dogs)

We haven't gotten to work with Tom on any projects yet because we are still waiting to finalize the purchase of our new house, but he played a critical role in helping us understand the work that needs to be done to the property by showing up to the inspection and providing his professional feedback. His thorough, written outline of the cost of projects helped us negotiate a fair price for the home. We are very excited to work with him moving forward, and we've already referred him to family looking for additional help on a remodel.

Details: Kitchen • 6-10 • No, my cabinets are already assembled • Both wall and base cabinets • I need help choosing cabinets to purchase • No existing cabinets to remove or I will remove them myself • Residential

I needed a sub board underneath my toilet replaced immediately and Tom fitted my repair into his busy schedule. He gave me a fair price. He was very courteous, respectful, and professional. I will be using his services for future projects and I highly recommend him.

I contacted Tom to give an estimate on a couple of projects. He showed up at the agreed upon time, despite, as he admitted, making several wrong turns en route to our difficult to find wooded lot. After consulting on our plans, Tom ultimately decided he wasn't the right guy to do our projects, as he didn't want to waste our time while learning on the job, or risk doing something wrong. He did, however, insist on contacting his network to help us find the right contractor, and to ensure that we're getting a fair market price. To me, that's above and beyond. We're still working out those details, but so far Tom has been responsive with communication. He's very knowledgable and refreshingly honest. And beyond all that, he's just a friendly, fun guy to talk to.

Tom is AMAZING! Really a jack of all trades! He came to my house and hung patio blinds, window blinds, mounted a tv, and fixed a couple things around my house! He is a great guy, very professional, and did so great I have referred him to family and friends! He is your one stop shop for any work around the house. Also: he’s HONEST. He was very clear that if he didn’t know something he would tell me so I could consult with someone else.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I prefer to bid each job on a fixed price based on the scope of work. I am reticent to charge hourly as I don’t want to pass on inordinate costs to a customer should I make a mistake that costs time.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I prefer to get eyes on the project and provide a detailed estimate with a scope of work based on our discussion and your expectations. I focus on three primary things, delivering quality, positive customer experience, and I always conduct myself with integrity expected of a Special Operator.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a Certified Project Manager, I also manage a commercial utility rehabilitation company. I’ve been working in construction since I was a teenager with a bit of a break for my military service. If I don’t know an answer or am unsure I will be the first fella to let you know.
