Patti Maeda is the WORST pet sitter we ever used. She is a LIER, CHEATER, very UNPROFESSHIONAL and very IRRESPONSIBLE person! We found out her via her website, and asked her for 2-week sitting. Turns out it was a disaster! 1) She Cheated on VISIT TIME. On our agreement and her website, each visit should be 30 min. However, based on our security system, she spent LESS THAN 10 MINS on each visit!! 2) She DID NOT do any pet sitter responsibility, may potentially try to abuse our pets. After 11 days away from home, we found out the water bottle was almost empty via security system! She did not refresh the water in 1.5 week! Moreover, she LIED that she did refill water every 2-3 visits! 3) NO UPDATES from her during her visit! Upon agreement and her website, she agreed to text or email us after every visit. Turned out NO UPDATES from her even we asked her! 4) MADE UP the visit notes. On her website and agreement, each visit note would be written after each visit. However, it turned out the visit notes were printed on the same page and put on the table on the last visit! 5) Cat Litter IS NOT SCOOPED AT ALL and ALL OVER THE HOME! She did not scoop the cat litter for 2-week. Cat Litter all over the home after we back. All the things were spotted by our security system. The security system is used for home safety purpose but as a result, we caught a LIER, CHEATER and IRRESPONSIBLE PET SITTER! We tried to contact her after back to home, then SHE DISAPPEARED! Her website and first consultation will promise you everything! HOWEVER, SHE WONT DO ANYTHING FOR YOU except taking the money! Think twice before using her service!

We have used the Petsitter several times. She feeds our cat each day, cleans the used pet dishes, and cleans the dirty box. She even took a picture of the cat one day and sent it to us!

I was very hesitant to hire someone I didn't know for my adorable boy cats, especially Leonardo, who needs insulin shots twice a day...But Patti sounded great as I wanted a more mature person. She was fabulous, sent me emails and photos while I was on vacation. She stopped by to get her money after I returned home and Leonardo must have heard her voice and he came downstairs to see her, and that never happens......

Thank you! It's always a privilege to be trusted with the care of someone's pets. I enjoyed the time I spent with "the boys".

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I charge a basic rate per day for visiting your pets. The rate depends upon how many pets you have and the number of visits per day. 1 visit/day for up to 3 pets $20 2 visits/day for up to 3 pets $30 3 visits/day for up to 3 pets $40 4 visits/day for up to 3 pets $50 Over 3 pets contact me for rates. (Fish count as 1 pet.) The following holidays are an additional $5/visit: Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Pet walking is available for an additional charge. You must provide the appropriate collar and leash. If the temperature is over 85 degrees walks will be no more than 15 minutes and given in the AM only. Heat is a serious threat to pets. Keep this in mind when scheduling.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

My background includes training guide dogs, being a puppy raiser for a service dog group, volunteering at local humane societies (where I did dog bathing, participated in mobile pet adoptions and found homes for 75 animals). I have also trained dogs that have appeared on network TV shows and commercials. In addition my own dogs have earned 49 performance title for obedience and agility events.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When choosing a petsitter interview the person over the phone. Ask for references. (I've probably already pet sat for one of your neighbors.) You want to know if the person works or if they are like me and this is their only job. You don't want other obligations keeping them from making your pets their priority. Find out if they have pets of their own. If you need plants watered, can they handle it? Only after you are satisfied with the answers should you discuss price. You want the best price possible but you want the petsitter happy too or the petsitter might turn you down the next time you call. Finally , call right away as summer and the holidays are the busiest time for pet sitters. Not all of them are like me and are willing to accept last minute reservations.
