FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from the Univerisity of Kansas with a degree in Interior Design. I worked for small architecural firms in Kansas City for 7 years in which I gained experience on nearly all types of projects and design. I also stay involved with my local IIDA chapter (International Interior Design Association's) and meet with product reps several times a week to be updated on the newest products, installation methods, and usage.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I work on all types of projects from residential design to commercial. I have experience working on, civic, healthcare, recreational, housing, religious architecture, multi-family housing and single family housing. I often am hired to 'add life' into space through color, space utilization and finish updates for both commercial and residential. projects. This can include flow improvements, efficiency and material usage.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Finding the right designer is an important decision. Look for someone who you feel will best represent your interests and style. It is easy for a designer to design spaces they would like themselves, but matching to someone else's requires listening, understanding and excellent communication skills ( verbal, non verbal and visual art). Ask the designer questions about the design process, what you should expect to get out of the process and inform them of your own experience with design so they can be sure to relate the experience to your needs.
