FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My carpet cleaning is $40 a room, any size. I make 2 passes in different directions and then pass with just water for a third on a really dirty carpet. Anything more than that and you start destroying fibers. If it needs more than that, then another appointment would need to be made a couple of months later. Standard Cleaning and Deep cleaning prices are based off of square footage. This approach keeps it cheap for the client and still allow me to pay my employees around $12 to $15 an hour. The profit margin is not great, but this ensures I have responsible adults who will do a great job cleaning. A 2000 sq ft house for a total clean may run from $100 to $150 and a deep clean would be $75 more for example. Weekly, monthly, bi-monthly cleaning use a different scale, built around your needs. All prices are negotiable, but I use this as a base guideline.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I continually read up on new products and ways to clean. There is always someone who has found an easier, cleaner way to do something.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My mom cleaned houses for a living. I worked in the restaurant industry waiting tables, bartending, managing at night. During the days I worked at A.G.Edwards and Scottrade in the Margin Department. I left the business field in 2001 and join the Sprinkler fitter union . Work has been scarce the past few years and I went to work with my friend on my off days cleaning houses. He really didn't want to expand his business and I had some good ideas on approaches I wanted to take in this industry. That got the ball rolling into creating A Green Clean.
