Introduction: I am a classically trained fine artist with expertise in portraiture and still life in traditional oil painting. My portfolio includes pet portraits, landscape, portraiture, and even custom murals. With over 15 years of experience in fine art including a BFA in Illustration with an emphasis in figurative oil painting, I look forward to working with you to create your perfect masterpiece to add to your collection, or help you discover your inner artist through lessons. My students range from age 12 to retirees; I firmly believe there’s no age too young nor too old to become an artist! I’ve taught private lessons since 2018 and have been instructing sold out classes at the St Louis Artists’ Guild since 2023. I currently have a full time job, but looking to scale back to part-time. That being said, I’m willing to work with you in terms of my availability. I commissioned Maryn for some floral art and she was absolutely wonderful to work with! I didn’t know exactly what I wanted and was a little nervous going into it. She was a true professional through the whole process. She listened intently to me as I shared my scattered ideas then asked me some additional questions to help her understand my preferences. She sent proofs for my approval before beginning the paintings. I was so impressed with the proofs - she had elevated my ideas beyond what I could have even imagined. The finished paintings are stunning! Maryn is a true artist. I am in love with her style and want to be surrounded by her florals on every wall in my home.

Maryn is an excellent teacher. She helped me learn about value, light, under painting etc. she answered all of my questions without making me feel stupid :) and my pieces are way better thanks to her! I’ve also bought and commissioned work from her that is so special! Her work has brought such light and joy into my home!

FAQs

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BFA in Illustration, and during my time in university, I focused on figure drawing, oil painting, and portraiture. My teachers have been recognized by, the Art Renewal Center, and the Portrait Society of America, and the Society of Illustrators. Additionally, I have a lifetime of practice before that! I was self taught until I was 11, and then I started taking art lessons from a private tutor, who received a BFA in painting from ASU. While growing up I took art as an elective in school every year, and even took AP art twice, the second year I created multiple indoor murals for my school. I still like to participate in workshops and conferences whenever possible; I believe in lifelong learning and try to always be a beginner in a new skill (currently, that skill is sewing and embroidery!)
