About
Good news! Most students do very well with a half hour lesson, $25. Piano or flute lessons are offered. I live off Mason just north of 64. You are invited to a free lesson to meet me and discuss where you want to go and achieve with your new talent. I have helped both children and adults to start from the beginning, or to continue from where they left off. Winner Best of Thumbtack and Top Pro awards, given to only 4% of professionals. I love interacting with students, seeing their progress, delighting in their successes. I am often amazed at what happens, and have long learned that people will surprise you if given the chance. At our meeting we can go over your goals and set up what you will need to achieve them. Please call to arrange a session. Mary Somogyi

I'm updating my review now that I have been working with Mary for a year. I have learned and grown a lot since starting lesson with Mary a year ago. She is very knowledgeable and teaches not just the music but also where it comes from. I enjoy every lesson I go to and she really shows she cares about you as an individual and your progress. If something isn't working, she will find a new way to teach so that you'll understand. She's awesome.

Mary is a wonderful teacher. She is very patient with my 7 yr old son and is very warm and inviting. She uses fun, age appropriate lesson books that my son really enjoys. She's also very flexible and willing to work with you should you need to reschedule a lesson which is great!

Mary does a fantastic job. We've seen enormous improvement in our children since we switched to her. Beyond standard motivation tactics (e.g. stickers and the like) she also explains the science behind teaching your body and brain to play the piano well. This includes researched views on the optimal approach for learning quickly. Mary has the formula for success down cold, all you need to bring is some enthusiasm and commitment.

Mary is a very experienced musician and teacher. She is very insightful and has numerous teaching strategies that helped me pick up new skills very quickly. You’ll find that she is patient and helpful and will guide you every step of the way. She will also arm you with the tools to teach yourself at home more effectively. If you want to learn how to play the piano, Mary is hands down the best person to go to!!

Mary is the best teacher we ever had without any doubt. My son, he is five, loves her piano lessons a lot! He will not make so far if not Mary is teaching.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My standard price is $25 per half hour lesson, Longer times are multiples of this. For example, 45 minutes is $37.50, and an hour is $45. For most students, a half hour lesson is plenty, as I do a lot in that time. For older students with longer pieces, or those preparing for auditions or concerts, longer times would be recommended.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The client is invited to a free lesson at my home. Besides the lesson, we discuss their goals and experience, then make recommedations on where to start.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Music minor in college, professional performance 30 years, music director of a performance company (the boss, included performance, rehearsal direction, client contact) for 11 years, teaching 30 years, concert bands for 15 years. Church performance 25 years weekly.
