"When he says a contractor should be there between 9 and 9:30, expect the contractor to show up between 10 and 10:30. One day there was a mix-up, and we just had to reschedule the work to another day. The quality is inconsistent depending on who is working. There was one contractor who did a terrible job on the paint. Raul had another guy over to fix the job.
I believe anyone hiring Raul will have a great experience if you are willing to recognize and appropriately compensate for his weaknesses. So this means that you'll have to be flexible on scheduling. It means making sure that both parties know in detail exactly the work that needs to be done for the project. It means having to be more hands-on in making sure that the contractors know what they need to do for the day. It means looking over their work carefully to make sure that they've done quality work.
If you are not willing nor have time to deal with the details of the renovation, I would find another contractor. In my opinion, for the price, it's worth being extra hands-on with the project. I plan to hire him again for renovating my upstairs full-bath."
