James Kumorek/Spreading Flames Media helps us frequently with audio and visual needs for our theater productions. He is knowledgeable, professional, and has always produced excellent quality in every task he has undertaken for us. Jim will be working with lighting and media on a premiere production in February and we are most excited to have him on the team!

  • 5/5 stars

Jim was thorough and went the extra mile to produce shots of our equipment functioning rather than just still shots. Impressive! He took many shots using different angles and lighting to give us as much choice as possible.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Make sure that the company you hire has professional equipment and has demonstrated the ability to do the job well.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Video production is more than just running a camera. It involved writing skills for scripting; it involved lighting; it involves graphic design; it involves audio engineering. Does the person/firm you are considering have expertise in all these areas? A video with poor audio or lighting is a poor video, no matter what the camera and editing skills of the person doing the work.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Can they light the shoot for proper video capture?
Can they record, mix and process audio to get a great sounding video?
If they are shooting for a web-based video, are they shooting progressive video instead of interlaced?
